Yeah, that's good advice from Aristotle. See if the company would send you a list and time frame of how long you will be out. You don't want to over do it. Figure if you are going to be out one month with a trainer, bring a least two weeks worth of clothes. By the second week you can always wash on the road. Good luck to you. Have fun...

... I tried asking company and no one could actually tell me the answer! Sounds weird right? But I have chosen to go to work for USF Glen Moore and this training a trainee is new to them. They use to only hire experienced drivers so this is a first for them. However at orientation I did get to look in the trucks and see what there is room for. Three bags should work fine and this includes some food and drinks I am taking with me.
... Good and bad ... I am back home from orientation because my trainer would not be able to pick me up until next Monday or Tuesday. Really all good for me as I get paid the same amount for this week either way. I only lived 120 miles or so from their Knoxville terminal so my wife drove up last night and I drove home to stay till my trainer will pick me up. And now he will pick me up in my hometown instead of at the terminal. I don't really care what day he picks me up next week cause I get paid the same amount for that week as well, no matter how many days I work! Bad? Nothing really except it just prolongs the time until I get assigned my own truck. But being home makes up for that a whole lot. Even though I had a nice room all to myself, and free meals at the motel, and would have been making same money sitting there waiting, I am glad to be home! And let me say that the meals at the Days Inn in Knoxville were some of the best I have eaten anywhere. Like gourmet chefs or something. At least to someone who will not pay more than $15 for a meal anywhere!
... So I was really happy that USF GM provided individual motel rooms for us, mine had double beds even, provided us with great meals, gave us some good training and was genuinely apologetic about their inability to hook us up with a trainer sooner, and still paying us the same for waiting! All I can say is >>> So far I am very happy! One of my class mates came from California and they paid for his plane ticket! No bus ride for him. Another came from Maryland and they paid for his rental car and gas! I think that is far better than what I have read from other companies new hires!
... If any of you are ever interested in USF, please let me recommend you so I can get some points with the company for referals. :biggrin_25514:

As long as you are happy, that's the important thing. Sounds like a very good company. That is the first sign to look for in a company, see how well they treat thier drivers... Losts of luck, be safe... ace

Ok this company sucks major #$$ How blind was I? Anyway to make a long story short I been with JB since febuary 2nd. Its not getting any better but worse here is what they have done to me in the past 2 days. I recently got some bad news back home that my brother is dying. I called my dispatcher and told him that I need to get home. About an hour later he called back with the terminal manager. The terminal manager in so many words told me that he didn't care whats going on with my family!!!! I just ignored him and went and delivered my load here in Shokapee,MN I also got word today from Q Carriers today they called me at 1330 and told me that I was clear to come to work for them. I'm excited about it I'm suppose to start orientation Monday. But I don't know what to do with this truck. We have a yard in Cedar Rapids,IA but I don't wanna get charged with abandonment. This Q Carriers seem great though they asked me straight up (Do you want a rental car are a bus ticket?) They are also family owned. I spoke with a couple of there drivers today and they have nothing but good to say about them.:biggrin_25525:

Congrats for seeing thru the lies with this company. You need to call that terminal manager back and tell him, Where do you want this truck parked? Also, make sure you send it across the qualcom as well. Whatever you do, don't get set up for abandonment. This will ruin your driving career. They are a DAC happy company. Good luck with your new job.....

Yeah, ask your TM where he wants you to turn in the truck. Probably at a company terminal. Then, get a copy of the inspection report from a shop person, preferably the shop manager. Get something that proves you turned it in at an authorized location in good condition. CYA

I didn't think that J.B. Hunt was an evil company...until they flat out lied to me, they have a web-ertisment saying that they will take a driver with an DUI on their record, yet because I have a bad DAC they can't make a place for me, I should think that a bad DAC is not even as serious as a DUI...HELLO, Driving Under the Influence...DUH...:biggrin_25516:
