    Yeah, There Is A Big Catch To That $70k/year Local Job. That Company Has A Non-compete Agreement With J.b. Hunt And If You Have Worked For Jb Within The Last Year They Will Not, And Can Not Hire You! I Met All Of The "stringent Requirements" To Qualify For That Job And When They Called Me Back To Set Up My First "training Day" , I Find Out About The No-compete Agreement Since My Last Job Was J.b. The Dumb*** People Couldnt Look At My Application And Read That Before Offering Me The Job. Talk About Head Up Your ***.

    that is a "no-kiddin" with JB Hunt. If you drive on their PPG account, they already have this problem with drivers not being able to speak English. When I drove for JB, I was suprised at how many drivers had been there 15, 20 or more years--I mean they must really have low self-esteem in order to stay, because there are a crapload of driving jobs that pay better than this.
    I actually have drove for JBN twice, once for about 8months and once for about 3 weeks. During my 8 month stint, I drove on the PPG dedicated account which mileage-wise wasnt to bad, but the dispatchers for a company who claims to be the safest, are about the dumbest people that you will ever have the joy of meeting.
    I actually got accuse of drag-racing with another JB truck! It was on I65 south of the Kankakee River about the 130mm in Indiana and a JB container driver decided that he would pass me and so I started letting up and leting up and this idiot kept slowing down instead of going, so I decided that since he didnt want to get over and wanted to pace me, I'll let him stay there for a while, finally after about 10 miles of the other drivers yelling at him on the radio, I got over slowing down to 43 mph to do so--My next load got me routed to Lowell, so I could watch a bunch of movies on Safety since I was drag racing in a 63 mph JB Truck! While I was enroute to Lowell and got off the highway in Lowell, I supposedly tailgated one of there cars doing the Smith System, which I told them that I wanted to do since the only car in front of me had a woman in an extremely small swim suit and stayed in front of me until I got to the terminal(they were not amused) I asked them if they could produce the accuser and of course they couldnt, I replied that even in a court of law I have the right to face and question the accuser--I kind of wanted the swimsuit girl to walk around the corner when I asked this.(they were still not amused) On the way into the yard, they did not like the way I stopped for the RR crossing that goes right through the center of the yard, and so I got yelled at about that, I found out that that crossing is video taped and after complaining for 15 minutes about letting me see the video tape, they finally did-I did a full stop for approx 15 seconds, Thank You! I refused to sign any of their safety stuff about the drag racing incident, the tailgating and the RR--but I did watch their movies, which were quite outdated.
    WHen I transferred over to PPG, they rented me a car in Indianapolis and sent me to Columbus ,Ohio to pick up the truck--the place I had to drop the car at was 35 miles from the terminal--it cost me $57 to get from the airport to the terminal and they balked for 3 weeks about re-imbursing me, I finally had to threaten court action if they didnt, they loaded my card 2 hours later with it. We were supposedly out 10 days and home 2, or out 13 days and home 3, it rarely went that way--When I quit the first time, They sent me out to Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a load. After I delivered that, they wanted to send me to Burlington, Iowa at 5pm(clear across the state) and wanted me to be there at 9--I told them that I could be there at 10:30 and they then told me to go ahead and go and they would make the arrangements. So I got there at about 10:25, nobody around--Now JB has this requirement that obn a weekend that you have requested hometime, you are supposed to be rolling toward home by midnight--just so happens that this was my weekend. Anyhow, the secruity guard told me that nobody would be back until Tue, since the shop was taking a company picnic on Mon--so I called dispatch and asked what to do, they were literallybeside themselves with rage about why I didnt get there on time--I told them I did, and I also told them that the security guard told me that receiving went home at 4pm--so there was no way that I could have made it. Anyhow, they decide that I would sit without pay for the weekend-I dont think so! I sat until Sat morn, when I called them back--they were still going on about how I didnt make it there on time, and so forth--finally after arguing with the jerk for about 2 hours, I told him that it would either start costing them, or they could move me--I also told them that it was my home weekend and also that the truck was due for a B service at Stoops Freight liner in Indianapolis, either drive me or I would just deadhead. After about 5 minutes they had me call them--my response was either "pay me or play me"-so he told me to Deadhead immediately to Indy and put the truck in for B service. Which I did, upon getting back, I unloaded the truck of my belongings and then I took the truck over to Stoops and erased all messages on the Qualcomm and then typed in "You may want to get somebody to pick this truck up, because Im donr here" and turned they key in and then I left. On Tue morn, I got a call telling me that my truck was done and I needed to go pick it up-I just laughed and hung up, 2 hours later, I get another call from some guy in road service that the truck is done to go get it-SO I just said," I guess you guys dont get it" They later tried to tell another employer of mine that I abandoned their truck, but after some haggling, they finally admitted that I took it exactly where I was told to-how could I have abandoned it?
    The second time I worked ther, I had probs at another employer and was asked to resign, so I came back to JB and drove for approx 3 weeks on the Midwest board--you know short hauls, home all the time, but not many miles--I told them from the getgo-any BS I was out of there, well I was treated a little better than the time before. I was given a load to be picked up in Kankakee, Il and the appt was 4 pm, I arrived at 3pm and was put in a door, afterwards is when the problems started, I finally was loaded at 2am, After being on the phone and sending multiple qualcomm messages to dispatch(which BTW, I was never paid for this 10 hour wait)
    I get a message that tells me that I am over my hours, to shut down and find some pkace to park. I dont think so! I am 2 hours from dropping this load in Indianapolis at Target and it is Sat Morn, so I took off to Indy--Qualcomm beeping the entire time- I dropped the trailer at Target, went to the drop yard bobtail, dropped the truck and got in my car and went home. I got a phone call on Monday asking me when I wanted to be dispatched again, I didnt even say anything, I just hung up.
    Another thing is, that qualcomm goes off every 10 minutes, I remember once I stopped like 8 hour later and I had 57 messages on the qualcomm-none of which pertained to me. They also have a monthly safety meeting--most of the dispatchers due this by conference call, I used to call and once they took attendance I hung up and went on my way, I never listened in on any of them, in fact I was there to drive not read qualcomm messages and do phone calls. If they wanted a safety meeting, do it in person and pay me for it. They shut me down once in Columbus, OH because I had not completed some quarterly training that they had-so I told them that I had not even been there 2 months, what were they talking about? ANyhow, they had me complete some computer program about load-securement on a flatbead, which was worthless since I didnt even pull a flatbead!
    Most of their terminals are crapholes and arent even big enough to park in. The only terminal of any size is Chicago, and you gotta fight the containers to park there. They will do a physical that should be illegal, and according to Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Enforcement and FMCSA, it is. But JB claims that they are doing it for insurance and it is not a physical, it is a driver assessment. According to FMCSA, when you are asked to do a driver physical assessment, you must do it at one of their physicians offices and it can only be done if you need a waiver to drive because of some physical condition that could disqualify fyou from driving.
    Best bet here is to STAY AWAY, no matter how much experience you have or dont have. How this company has gotten so big is beyond me. They will tell you about all their satisfied drivers, I never met any of them!:biggrin_25518:

    Shame on you! You have just demonstrated, once again, why recruiters are not trusted. I wonder what Allen in HR would say about the "Driver Recruiting" departments tactics. Making drivers appear as they are incapable of making decisions without the assistance of the likes of you speaks for itself. There will come a day my friend when your superiors at JB look upon your character and take appropriate actions. It only takes one bad egg like yourself to bring down a company's reputation.

    People need to stop expecting anything else......... :biggrin_25520:

    Don't know who Allen is (and the original poster hasn't been on the thread in a year) but I would bet money that Allen knows what goes on.......... :yes2557:

    Well...... let see...... recruiters had to get the idea from somewhere....... and unfortunately it is probably from past experience...... this is a two way street....... there are too many drivers that do not do their homework and do need help making decisions........ :biggrin_2554:

    We have way too many posts around here that say "I am starting at XYZ on Monday, can anyone tell me what to expect, what they are like, what I will get paid, what I should take, what I will learn............" :biggrin_25513:

    Superior, Character..... and JB Hunt........oxymoron?? :biggrin_25522:
    Appropriate action........ a raise? :biggrin_2559:

    REPUTATION?................ :laughing-guffaw::laughing-guffaw::laughing-guffaw:

    Btw... Welcome :biggrin_25525:
