PAM and Driver Solutions Driving School..

I have noticed PAM as one of the companies that hires newbies out of school from Driver Solutions. On the part of this forum on schools, Driver Solutions is getting some pretty good posts.

I guess if I choose Driver Solutions, I'll definately stay away from PAM...

My cousin went through Driver Solutions in Indianapolis over a year ago. He loved the school, and ended up driving for Decker...which is owned by PAM. He went local after finishing his 1 yr contract with Decker, and is glad he went through Driver Solutions. I think he also liked Decker ok, but wanted more home time.

Their school is only about an hour away from where I live. I think they also have a school in St. Louis.

Was a good company for me until....

P.A.M. was a good company for me until the end of my orientation after training. They sent most of the new first seats off to pick up their trucks in other yards. I was asked to go pick up a retired truck in Jeffersonville, IN and take it home to St Louis to take off my 5 days ,than head to Tontitown AR to turn the truck in and get issued my first truck, I was supposed to be paid all the miles. Since this truck was not going to be issued to me I did not get the new driver pack with all the materials a new driver needs when getting assigned a truck. Sounded pretty simple to me.. pick up the truck, take it home, than take it to Tontitown, AR , it was a RETIRED truck. Well I get to the truck, it was a dump. Most of the interior is broken, most all the vents broken, dirt caked everywhere inside, side compartment latch broken, missing closet, heavy smell of urine, three - one gallon jugs of urine, 5 bags of trash, dirt and filth all over the remaining closets. Yes I beleive the truck was ready to retire. When the turbo kicks on you dont hear a woosh, just a squeal. The truck jerks around horribly when I press the accelerator, belts in dire need of replacing. Did I mention I picked this truck up from a Freightliner repair facility? I qualcomm'd that I arrived and was taking the truck home. No reply.. no reply the whole trip home. This morning I get a message asking if I was still in the truck and who authorized me bobtailing home. I explained who authorized it and what I was told to do. My dispatcher gets attitude and says that in no way are trucks to be bobtailed, that it cost the company a dollar a mile to bobtail and I needed a load assigned. I explained I was told this was a retired truck and was told to take it home for 5 days and take it to Tontitown and pick up my assigend truck than. He insists I was not authorized to move the truck without a load ( though I was told otherwise) and I do not do anything without contacting him first. (He was gone the day this was dispatched to me, I was supposed to meet him and sign a paper about the 10 hour rule that never happened either). He stipulates that the ( P.O.S. unhealthy) truck is issued to me now (without required paperwork ). So here I sit at home and no idea what to do about this. Left a message with human resources that has not returned my call as of yet. I am not getting paid for any miles but what it took me to get to the truck as my dispatcher says that is all he is paying me. To say the least on the phone and qualcomm "driver manager" pretty much treated me like crud and the "security desk" denies telling me to take the truck and go home than to Tontitown.
Any suggestions from any of you? If I cleaned this truck it would take me more days than I have off.

Thumbs up

Sounds like a peach. I hope you chunked the piss jugs out before you began your little journey. That would make for real hazmat mess if you got in a wreck. Good luck.

I really dont know much about PAM Transport devision but i did work for PAM Dedicated who for the most part treated me really well. Thats their team devision out of North Jackson, OH. My trainer was like dr. jekel and mr. hyde, I almost quit because of him after 3 weeks but looking back he taught me we i needed to know. I was there for 1.5 years. I only quit because i found a local job making the same amount of money since PAM dosnt pay very well. My average take home pay was around 620 a week and when i started training after 6 months my average pay was around 900 a week. I would recommend them to anyone that needs to get their experience. Home time is really good too. You primarily just run to Texas and back 2 times and you get 48 hours off but they dont complain if you take alittle extra time off. And by no means do you JUST run to Texas. They might send you to mississippi than texas or to Michigan than texas and vise versa but its all about the same. You haul G.M parts for Delphi. Its 98% drop and hook. I really liked the job.

Things must have really changed over there since you left. When I went to C1, PAM had a recruiter there from Choctaw (the name they use for the dedicated now) every Friday to recruit PAM students over to that account. Guess nobody stays with it.
