So after 3 months I find PAM does care about how many days you have off, 1 day per week out, and it starts the day you get home, even if its 10pm that night!! Driver manager I have loves to dictate how things are going to be, requested new DM from Human Resources but never received new Driver manager. I sit 2 days between loads, they have to wait for confirmation from executive level to okay any repair, can take up to 2 days. I have been taking home anywhere from 400 to 200 a week. I was out with pneumonia last week and have nothing but grief from Driver Manager since I got off medical here in Texas. Med department also forgot to clear me, but thats my fault I hear.
If you want to work with a bunch of jerks that dont treat you right go to PAM. I also put in a 3 week advance notice for my wifes christmas party for the 5th... they are sending me to pick up a load on the 3rd in Texas and deliver to Maryland on the 5th ... no where near home. I did get to be within 90 miles from home on Thanksgiving .. had to have that load in San Antonio by Friday so couldn't stop. I have been out 5 weeks and they cant get me home... Stay away from the crooks.

Out of Florida? You must be going with Allen Freight out of Jacksonville...a division of PAM?

Anyway, put a year in and keep your nose clean and it will work out well.

Good luck!

I am thinking on working for this company also. Many people I have talked to say that P.A.M. is a grate company to work for they offer so much. All of there trucks have been up graded and are all auto shift for the comfurt of there drivers.

I was asked to go pick up a retired truck in Jeffersonville, IN and take it home to St Louis to take off my 5 days ,than head to Tontitown AR to turn the truck in and get issued my first truck, I was supposed to be paid all the miles. Since this truck was not going to be issued to me I did not get the new driver pack with all the materials a new driver needs when getting assigned a truck. Sounded pretty simple to me.. pick up the truck, take it home, than take it to Tontitown, AR , it was a RETIRED truck. Well I get to the truck, it was a dump. Most of the interior is broken, most all the vents broken, dirt caked everywhere inside, side compartment latch broken, missing closet, heavy smell of urine, three - one gallon jugs of urine, 5 bags of trash, dirt and filth all over the remaining closets. Yes I beleive the truck was ready to retire. When the turbo kicks on you dont hear a woosh, just a squeal. The truck jerks around horribly when I press the accelerator, belts in dire need of replacing. Did I mention I picked this truck up from a Freightliner repair facility? I qualcomm'd that I arrived and was taking the truck home. No reply.. no reply the whole trip home. This morning I get a message asking if I was still in the truck and who authorized me bobtailing home. I explained who authorized it and what I was told to do. My dispatcher gets attitude and says that in no way are trucks to be bobtailed, that it cost the company a dollar a mile to bobtail and I needed a load assigned. I explained I was told this was a retired truck and was told to take it home for 5 days and take it to Tontitown and pick up my assigend truck than. He insists I was not authorized to move the truck without a load ( though I was told otherwise) and I do not do anything without contacting him first. (He was gone the day this was dispatched to me, I was supposed to meet him and sign a paper about the 10 hour rule that never happened either). He stipulates that the ( P.O.S. unhealthy) truck is issued to me now (without required paperwork ). So here I sit at home and no idea what to do about this. Left a message with human resources that has not returned my call as of yet. I am not getting paid for any miles but what it took me to get to the truck as my dispatcher says that is all he is paying me. To say the least on the phone and qualcomm "driver manager" pretty much treated me like crud and the "security desk" denies telling me to take the truck and go home than to Tontitown.
Any suggestions from any of you? If I cleaned this truck it would take me more days than I have off.
I've been driving for 19 years I advise to you to leave Pam along they are bad news, My brother drove for them in the 80's and they were bad then he quite in AR and called my Dad to come pick him up. they screwed him around ever which way and cheated him too. You better run not walk from them.

I must say I worked for PAM for 12 years 10 1/2 years I trained for the company until I had problems with their safety director name Clark , then it went down hill from there he banned me from training so I said ok want too work that way I can be an ### also.... Well I use too be all gung ho super trucker doing all sorts of illgel s*&t for them too get their Automotive frieght too the GM plants on time running all night very little sleep lying on my logs for them so I could get an attah boy... granted my choice to do this... Anyways after I was taken of their training program was ask too keep doing favors for them well I said where was you when I needed back up not on of you spoke up for me when I need you... so anytime the wanted help i would just say I am not a trainer anymore and don;t want too pull any illegal loads or lie on my logs for you on the Qualcomm and they would stop asking. Well then they started giving me less and less miles so what my house was paid car was paid so did not have to do many miles too make a good living. Well the final straw was when I requested a dedicated run from Laredo Tx too Janesville Wi that would run me around 2800 miles a week...Wow that just what I need and be home on the weekends great.. Well when I ask they said yes but I would have too drop from 35cpm too 28 cpm SAY WHAT>?? well if you want it you need to take a pay cut I asked why you still get paid the same for that load and besides I am at the top of the seniority list this should get me some perks. No they said if you want too be home weekend you need too take a paycut....I tried too compromise with them said i would take a 5 cent pay cut but they still said no! well I gave it up and went out on the road well came too find out that one dedicated driver was making his 35 cpm when i confronted them with this they said it was none of my business what they paid other drivers well i walked went on vacation took out my 401 k and walked 12 yrs of hard dedicated service for them and didn't get respect!

Training Companies

PAM is what they call a training company. Basicly what they do is take new drivers and exploit them. My son drives for AFS which is one of the companies in the PAM stable. He works long hours for short pay. The latest PAM circus he was involved in was sitting for 14 days broke down and was paid forty dollars a day. This company cares nothing about thier drivers because the driving schools have hundreds of replacements graduating every week. Unfortunatly this is the dues you have to pay to enter into this industry. Just remember, you are not locked in to the BS for a year. You can go to a better company in about 6 months and make a payment arangment with the driving school. My son is in the process of signing with a new company after 7 months with PAM, getting a .06 cent raise right out of the box and home weekends. Good Luck to all the newbees, and remember, get YOURSELF there safe and ontime and your cargo will arrive a couple of seconds behind you.

For those wondering, yes I am a driver.

Trailer pam stucks

i was a formal driver for choctaw express so I was under the doctor care and when the doctor release me I put back in my application. i wanted to go solo this time so I gave them all the paper work that they asked for all my medical records so i call back to see what was my going on with my application. They told me that they couldn't rehire me never gave no reason why but the are not obligated to rehire experience driver. oh! just for the record I order my dac report and my driver license report for the last three years and on my DAC report it say that my job performance was good so what i don't understand is why i can't be rehire. I know one thing it's ok there's somebody out there that will hire me. i going tell you something with experience I don't care how much you do good work for a company at the end the will mess you up. i know what i am talking about been working for over 30 years. I am not cry about maybe it was God will that the didn't hire me back that will give me and my husband a chance to go team together. So stay safe out there and hop to see you around.

I am coming back and don't think any company will hire my butt after the Bad Accident a few months ago, its not reported on my Dac, But nightmares are at peace...
I need all Info about this Company Please!!
I respect all of you, cause in a sense your My Eyes and Ears about something I know little about, and this Company PAM is one of them, I can not afford long layovers/miles since I am like all of you , I have a Wife and Children and House payment & Bills. Please any Positive Or Neg issues with this Company Let Me know Now...

well one week you may get 500 miles, next week 800, then next 2500... you will usually get one good week per month at PAM. AND they will run you alot to New Jersey and New York City... so prepare yourself for spending most your time on I95... ALSO I noticed that the longer you stay w/PAM and make more per mile, the more crappy short runs you get... When i first started at 27 cents per mile, i would get 900-1500 miles per load alot of the time... When i got the max per mile, i would get 150 mile runs!!!.... I felt like a shuttle driver. AND good luck in New York city!! it's amazing i was never involved in an accident! PAM loves to run you there and if you refuse, you get laid off. GOODLUCK!
