:biggrin_25513:Mid States Express Peru IL (Other locations through out the midwest).........
Stay away from this company. The Company takes 300 a month out of checks for medical. The company in self insured and then does not pay the medical bills. Or pays them VVVVVVVVERY LATE! Some have bills over 2 years old. So now some employees have freeze on bank accounts, leans on homes, have had to refinance homes, even some children are being taken to collections because they were the patient. Basically the whole nine yards as far as screwing up an employees credit.

As if this is not enough the employees have tried to work things out with the Company. No chance. So Feb 2007 the employees vote the teamsters in with a 80 % vote yes. Also it only took them 1 week to get enough union cards signed. With 3 negotiation meetings into it it is clear the company has no intention of negotiating in good faith. The union approves a legal strike. They are now over 3 weeks into the strike. With a possible meeting set for July 24. We will see if they are willing to negotiate at that time?

Has any one else had a bad experience with Mid States Express Inc.?
I know there has be be more out there with over 800 employees through out the mid west. Not to mention the turn over this company has.

    Go Teamsters!
Sounds like a company that is going to reap what it has sown.

We are still fighting Mid States Express from my original post back in July.

We got good news from the state. We qualify for back and current unemployment. We qualified because the company replaced some of us with permanent replacement workers and failed to identify who they replaced to the state. Therefore because of that all qualified for the unemployment benifit.

Also the court has ordered Mid States to pay all back medical bills that they have not paid.... to the tune of some 4.4 million. They only have until Feb 2008 to pay them. At that time the court will step in, which could mean someone/s are going to jail and/or they will start selling their assets to get the money.

I applied at Mid States, years ago, when they were started to try and phase out Aurora Fast Freight. They had opened a terminal in the Kingsbury Industrial park, in Laporte Indiana. I was told I was hired, and would have been 5th or 6th on the board there. Everything was good, so I was told, so I quit the warehouse job I had. Two days later, they told me I couldn't work there, there was a problem with my physical. It was a condition called Spina Biffida Occulta, where a person doesn't have a back problem, but they are more prone to back problems. Couldn't use me, they said.
Strange, 'cause the next job I took was on a flatbed, throwing tarps and straps, removing side kits, and generally getting a workout. Never had any kind of back problems doing that, why should I have back problems with van freight?

Consider yourself lucky you never had to get pulled into their web. What a headache they have caused so many people. Here is a web page with some more of what has been going on.

i work for this horrible joke of a company. i have applied to a few other places but when they call my boss bad mouths me with lies and other companys wont hire me. since i cross the pickett line i've been black balled by the union. this place has pretty much ruined my career. they are full of lies, they even went as far as telling me the forecloser was a mean joke that local 722 had put in the paper because they have so much pull. i know for a fact no union would lie about that. stay away from this company at all costs!

I'd not go so far as to say no union would do that. They would have to assess the risks involved. Would it be worth prosecution? I doubt it in this case.

What interests me is the fact that there are no owners of record for Mid_States. If I recall my teachings, the Non-Record Claimants would mean no record of shareholders, either.

In effect, this indicates a non-existent company, as no company may exist without ownership...

I think, if I were you, I'd take ANY trucking job to get out of there.

I worked for Mid-States Express for 13 years and finally had to quit because I could not take it any longer so I quit! Thirteen years of loyaly, dedication, honesty and sacrific and not one phone call from any of the so called owners all down the drain all because of in my opinion mismanagement(BID TIME!)I have seen good people turn ugly and hateful, Marriages broken up and the lose of many good employess.Your comments about there insurance is correct and accurate because my wife and I have been paying on a medical bill from 2005 that we have tried a number of times to contact the company but without any assistance at all!I have no proof but have been told by other employees that they know of employess that have had to file bankruptcy over this medical problem.Believe u/me there medical bills are half there problem which any employee would testify to. The medical bill situation from the information that has been recently explained to me by a company rep is a judgement has been filed against the company and they are to start making payments however, if you are paying out of your own pocket to keep the blood suckers off your back like always you will be the last to receive reembercment (Go Figure!)However my concern is what happens if the company files for bankruptcy are they still held accountable for those medical bills and/or can they file for bankruptcy because of a legal claim against them??As far as the union goes GOOD LUCK the owners of this company will never and I mean never allow the union to penitrate there company EVER!!!I went through a union ordeal with them back a few years ago and I was told by a Vvvvvvvvvvvery high ranking offical there company would NEVER go for the union!!!! In my opinion if the Lasalle facility is being forclosed on there is a reason! Like I always said closing a faclilty doesnt correct your problems you still carry bad bagage somewhere else!! It is only my opinion but I would urge everyone to be very cautiuos of this company!!!Like my moma always says you never know what you goin get til you walk through the doors! All kidding aside I just needed to chime in because I feel vvvery betraided by this company and I feel they need to get what they have coming to them and hopefully jail time if provide in a court of law because I feel they are as crooked as the day is long!I also believe that they will file bankruptcy before long because that will be there way out and would not be surprised if some how re-open under a new name!!!

I really suprised that anybody would even consider working for this company--based on their driver pay alone. Which according to somebody I know who works there is not very good. Most of the better LTL companies pay on a union scale even if they arent union, because nobody will work for them unless they do.

Also, I dont know why they couldnt find and owner of record, all you have to do is look at their website and it tells you who the founder is (I guess they didnt look far enough), in fact he even has a letter there.
