Some states the carrier may be heavy in in terms of fuel purchases for the quarter and they try and not purchase any more fuel in a given state then they will actually consume as a fleet and if the fleet numbers are in the overage, they may begin reducing fuel purchases therein (not topping off). Plus some states, a carrier will refuse to buy any fuel in unless absolutely necessary and will only put in enough to get the truck to the next state.
Where I work , we will not buy fuel in Indiana except maybe reefer fuel, and if we do have to buy, it's only 50 gal max.

It's Western Express, they are a second chance company for drivers with terrible driving records, convicted felons, and parolees. Basically a halfway house on wheels. I'm not surprised one bit.

Really, what would you expect from a company who are over 50% in ALL of their CSA scores. OVER 90% in two areas (which leads to investigations) and were in fact over the threshold in ALL areas not too long ago. A company that clearly takes risks and shortcuts over safety will have very little regard for its drivers. How they are still allowed to operate is beyond me.

Just to put into sharp relief: over the last two years of inspections 14, yes 14 drivers were caught in possession of narcotics, 13 under the influence of alcohol and one who even had an alcoholic beverage WHILE DRIVING. These are FACTS taking directly from the CSA SMS of Western Express, not Truck Stop gossip!!

Hey...WE is one sho' nuff jacked up operation, but at least they have the stones to say they really don't care about you.......instead of blowing smoke up your tail pipe and sending you home Wednesday afternoon and expect you to be rolling by Friday 0600.
Jus' sayin'......crappiejunkie Thanks this. -
Only thing missing from the original statement is the number of weeks of KP one will receive for such insubordination!

You would be very surprised just how desperate a driver is for a job. Im one of them. 10yrs ago I was arrested, pled guilty and sentenced to 8yrs, for a felony. first time in trouble. I just got off parole. The one and only thing on my mind has been to get back it the big seat. It was my life. And is even more so now. The felony is 10 yrs old. But im having a hard time finding a company that will hire me based on my former experience and solid work history. No, they want the most perfect person they can find. It's to bad things have changed that much since ive been away. They loose out on great workers and good and qualified drivers. I might be a good fit for western due to me not needing home time now. It's just me. Anyway thanks for the heads up on western. You have a good and safe day.
