"Home time is a privilege/reward for doing your job. Service failures, home time abuse, noncompliance with routes and fuel solutions will NOT be rewarded with home time privileges."
This is on a company policy list that new drivers are forced to sign on their first day. Is this typical? Is this some legal mumbo jumbo or are they just trying to intimidate their drivers?

I know a person who once worked in the offices there , " most unprofessional place " they had ever worked at ....so I suppose all the Western Express stuff is true that I see here at the forum .

You are joking right??
No way no matter how bad I needed a job would I ever sign that formLGarrison, Gearjammin' Penguin, Busasamurai and 5 others Thank this. -
That would probably send me to the exit gate. We're seeing this more and more. Companies are having a hard time keeping qualified drivers in available trucks and as such the fewer remaining drivers are expected to produce more (be available more) to pick up the slack (i.e less home time and harder to get home time) While we all understand a company has customer obligations and the requirement to be profitable, but if they feel the way to achieve this is to essentially treat the driver as a machine with no life outside of the truck .... I'm going to have a hard time accepting that attitude, all year long, having to plan home time 4-6 weeks in advance, whether it be 2 days or 5 days wanted.
That's why the few companies who have a standing "most weekends home policy" are getting much more attention from drivers, in an effort to avoid the excessive "pre-approval required, 4 weeks in advance" home-time policies many now implement. Their business model is built with this assumption made and they work hard to make it happen to hopefully keep their drivers happy and content, and from reaching the point of frustration having been out 3, 4, 5 weeks, and looking elsewhere when they do finally get home.OPUS 7, dog-c, TruckerJimbo and 1 other person Thank this. -
This is just another way of telling all the drivers, they're not going to get home when they want because we at Western will find things they did wrong so they cant get home.Tell them to take a long leap off a short pier and walk out.

Home time was a big deciding factor for me as a new driver. I have taken lots of home time. Even a vacation for a motorcycle trip and a week off for a minor surgery. I'd never drive for western express with that policy in place. Maybe they'll wise up once they can't fill all those driver seats. My company is hurting for drivers bad, and I don't feel bad for them. These companies need to wake up and pay up.

Service failure, 2 mins. late on pickup or del.. Fuel solutions. You fuel at their fuel stops and only how much they tell you per stop. Then you need to make their mpg rate no if's and or but's

Being late for an appointment where it is generally understood is all on the driver (overslept, didn't plan correctly, got lost, etc), fueling at the truck stops furnished with each load.
