I don't think that they are going down any time soon.
They have about 20 brand new trailers at utility of Boise waiting to be picked up.

Yeah, when I ran for Giltneras a company driver, the same thing happened to me several times. I would be at the fuel island, the giltner TCH card either didnt work, or worse yet, it would work long enough to turn the pumps on and fuel. But when I went in to get my fuel receits after fueling, it would be declined. I couldnt leave the fuel desk or they said they would call the police. Ultimately, if you pump the fuel, it is legally your reponsibility if it is later declined. Several times I sat for ever in front of the fuel desk next to a security guard until it was resolved. Aside from that, I often waited days for reloads when delivering on a friday, saturday, or sunday. They will claim they pay lay over after 24 hours, but thats BS..All they have to do is DISPATCH you in 24 hours, but that dispatch can simply be to actually load in two days in the future. A most common load was as follows; After waiting 7-8 hours to load bananas at the port, you are then sent to Channel Islands for another pickup up close by, but you just check in and begin the whole wait game all over again and giltner wont pay for this extra stop. You then deliver at walmart a 330 am on saturday morning. Giltner dispatches your reload before 24 hours but that reload is for pickup Monday night. No layover pay whatsoever. Because of all the unpaid layovers, I averaged only 1100 - 1500 miles a week, even thought they tell you more miles are right around the corner when the season changes. Never happened.

Giltner leases their equiptment. They SWAP some trailers for some newer ones. Big deal. They turn in more older leased trailers all the time. I did the Sysco "drop and hook" loads all the time and these loads now are really drop, with no hook because there are fewer trailers available. Also the are moving more of their freight via other carriers trucks, because giltner has such high turnover. Take a close look at those newer leased giltner trailers back doors "DRIVERS WANTED..." decals, they are huge. Its like a billboard advertisement on the back of the new trailer doors. Why? Giltner is a tiny company with maybe 100 trucks at most.

They're going to have a hard time putting ##### in seats if they can't even get their fuel paid for reliably. I don't know of any drivers that enjoy those kinds of delays.

Same thing happened to me when I worked for giltner for 3 years. Fuel cards would stop working in the middle of a trip. Wes in Dispatch told me to use a TCH check, which of course is instantly taken off my pay. I later quit for many other problems (no miles, long layovers, no driver respect whatsoever, lots of payroll shortages, etc), and giltner then went back and deducted $1852.00 from me when I quit. Giltner now calls the TCH reimbursements " driver advances", and held back all that money when I quit. Giltner makes you send the original fuel receipt, so when you demand payment later when you quit, you only have copies, which giltner now wont accept because they are not originals! Giltner is financially connected to CR England, thats why the "drivers wanted" advertisement on the back of their trailers look the same because giltner gets much of their equiptment from England. Giltner runs the same lease purchase scam england does. Bottom line with giltner was many dispatch and payroll problems that giltner wont hesitate to pin on the driver to save their behind, including deducting all sorts of BS retroactively so they dont get your final driver pay when you quit and may actually claim you owe giltner money when you quit and put it on your DAC.

You know that you can ask for duplicate receipts at trucks stops right?

I cant understand why people work for companies like this. The first time my fuel card gets denied would be the last time. There's no way I pay for fuel in a company truck.

The problem is...guys do foolish things.
My first call would be to dispatch......YOUR truck is blocking the fuel island and there is an angry mob surrounding it. By the way YOUR reefer is also out of fuel....so to keep the product from going soggy I opened the back doors.....
Then see how quick you get fuel.

Same thing happened to me at giltner out of Jerome, Idaho when they kept $1325.00 when I quit. There are too many complaints about giltner on these pages for similar practices. Over all, I found giltner to be liars and thieves. I delivered many shipments on the weekend, for which giltner never had a reload until 2-3 days later. Giltner lies and says they pay layover "over 24 hours" but they don't tell you that's only if you are not DISPATCHED for 24 hours. So giltner just makes sure they DISPATCH you within 24 hours. But that dispatch for reload could be for a pickup 2-3 days in the future. As far as I'm concerned, if the carrier doesn't have a reload already lined-up, they should never send you anywhere there will be a 2-3 day wait for reload. Giltner is associated with CR England, just look at the "drive, train, lease" advertisements on the back of they're trailers, almost identical to England. But two of those three statements ("Drive, train, lease")are blatant lies; 1) Giltner doesn't train and has no school, 2) I never met an giltner lease operator who actually had the title to a truck through giltner (probably because giltner doesn't own their trucks, they are leased. Good trucking companies don't advertise 24/7 on the back of all their trailers. Only horrible trucking companies with huge turn-over like giltner have large advertisements on the back of their trailers (England, Swift, Knight, etc). And as far as "11yr trucking vet uses he own money to fuel truck" you obviously don't understand how giltner operates. At giltner, you pay for all sorts of things every trip by TCH check and then hopefully get reimbursed later. Lumpers and port escort fees can add up to several hundred dollars a week in TCH checks the giltner company driver HAS to pay. Just those items WILL easily add up to $15,000.00-$25,000.00 a year that giltner drivers will pay upfront by TCH checks with a promise of re-reimbursement by giltner later. Those TCH check amounts are deducted from the driver the same day the checks are issued. What giltner does when you quit is re-classifies enough of those driver expenses as "driver advances" so they don't have to pay you your final checks they owe you. The original receipt is the only thing giltner will accept for re-imbursement, never copies. So the driver wont have the original later when he quits because it has already been submitted previously.
