| I've always erred on the side of caution in a case like this. I get VERY nervous after about 5 seconds of sitting on a track. Even if I can see for 2 miles in both directions that there is no train coming. This one has gotta be the truck drivers fault.

| Just divide 177000 by 132000,it comes out to 1.34 a mile,but thats not the net, figure the fuel at todays prices,maintenance,taxes,social security,hwy use tax,truck insur.,payments reg etc. you are not doing very good compared to a good job when it all boils down,and alot more risks to boot. My company runs a lease deal,brokers loads,also leases your truck,pays an average of 132 a mile,and pays your base plates,ifta and some other things,and guys have not made there truck payments and sold their trucks,its not good these days,just the fuel is killing them. Its ok if you want to leave home and not have more than one day at home for every ten out,but,its not where I would want to be,rather be married to a woman than a truck,been there done that,there is another life than living in a truck no matter how shiny and showy it is. I have high respect for you guys doing it,but,it isn't for me. I want to come home when I want and leave when I want,make good money for my owner and my family.I have never known anyone at CRST averaging that kind of money,its too high of an average and at 1.34 you could not have deadheaded at all. I know you did or everybody would be bragging about and working the CRST deal. Gee,I sure hope I don't get anyones dander up,hee hee. |

| When you posted 177000,was that for you both teaming,if it was I understand more now,you would both make about 35000 a year instead of making 50 or 60000 a year working for a good company and getting more time off and loading up your 401 for retirement. Just my opinion of course. |

| Being an owner op. I have had a previous stint as an O/O for nine years, this is my 2nd stint after 3 years of driving for someone else. Once you've experienced the freedom of being an O/O it is hard to drive for someone else. I realize that company teams are making around 50 cpm now and we don't clear that much ourselves or get their benefits but it sure is nice to haul where you want to haul and be home when you want to be home, to me it makes it all worth while! | hey thanks for the encouragement i am seriously taking in consideration looking at least purchase i went with jb and perkins so far i am looking in crst malone this is going to the last one I hope do you have any suggestions |

| Wasn't trying to be mean or anything! Just didn't seem fair to judge a company after being there a week and making not the most intelligent descisions himself, thats all. Yea, but now you are calling him stupid, so maybe you can't help yourselve. ![]() So are you saying that you would have not deadhead your first day to pu a trailer if the company asked you to? And would of sat around being told if you did not like sitting as a lease driver, then quit. OK, next! Truth be known, most drivers who want to be owner operators do not do their homework and count the cost 1st. There is a lot more to it then most imagine and only the ones who do their homework and prepare themselves will make it as an owner operator. So if the OP had done his homework he would of known CRST was going to screw him right out of the gate? So he should not disparage CRST's fine reputation in the trucking industry. ![]() Where did you get that statement? from your business adviser at CRST ![]() Here is a guy criticizing a guy yet says they make less then a company driver but puts up with all that being a O/O entails because of the freedom? ![]() Confucius say, one should exhibit intelligence before wishing it upon others. |

| got my truck in july 07 and have not had a problem. in the first 7 months of this year $62,000 dollars profit{january $13,000 in profit} i got an 05" freightliner it was in very good shape when u get your truck they tell u to inspect it i did and had severl things fixed drove 14 months before it broke down and it was fixed the same day i drove as a co. driver for 2 years and talked to may drivers that got trucks at crst and got more good replys than bad the bad ones i thank they just have there hopes up to high and don't know how to manage there money and i have the same dispatcher that he is talking about and have over a year and great to work with and yes there are pit falls but u have that with every co. if u have been in the work force very long i have learned a lot in 14 months there are places i don't go unless i get preplanned out of an area i am not afraid to turn down a load but they are only the ones that are just not worth it or they are a brokered load i don't like going to NY but i do and i am on the phone to find out were i am on the list to get a load if me and dispatch think it will be more than a day i will suck it up and deadhead out of there to get a load to get me moving would like to say i have been with crst for 3 + years and have had no problem with getting paid yes there have been problems but if i talk to dispatcher and talk out the problem we can work it out most of the drivers get on the phone and every other word out of there mouth is **** this and **** that i have never drove truck before i am 45 and have only driven for crst 3+ years worked in a factory for 22 yrs and love driving truck only u can make the job of driving fun and free of the time clock it is hard to be new out here but u have to start somewhere and crst gave me my start and the first year with crst or any trucking co. if new it takes time to get the pay and learn the ropes and dy the way i go home evey month for 7 to 12 days and just completed 15 days a vac. |
