I call them Useless xpress. I had worked for them back in the mid 90's and they were a good company that kept me busy back then. I thought I'd give them another try running team. They brought us to orientation in Irving, TX. We spent 3 days listening to them repeat themselves over and over. After mentioning the 20th item that would get you fired, I was ready to leave. We stuck it out for a month to find out the following: They run a team @ 3500 miles per week and call that "Good miles". They lied about .48cpm starting pay, it was .439 cpm, 4.1 cents lower than they promised. They forced perdiem on us which cost us another 2.1 cents per mile, then shaved the 10% off of our miles using the old household movers chart. They had newbie radar that was dangerous and caused us to lose control of the truck every time somebody cut in front of us. Their 90% drop and hook was realistically 15% drop and hook. 99% no touch was more like 70% no touch. I could only afford to stay there for a month before I decided to move on, then they charged me $100 for the d.o.t. physical that they forced upon me, mine was still current when I hired on.
Apparently you're not actually hired on until you've spent 3 days in orientation, that's when the staff actually checks your work history, credentials and you're not actually hired/qualified until the 3rd day. That's a first for me, not being confirmed qualified before I go to orientation. Detention pay is a harassment. They harass you to get the paperwork in, then they come up with excuses why you're not going to get paid for detention. The company gets paid, but unless you jump through several more hoops, they never forward that pay on to you. The driver select navigation and communication is impossible to use, even when it does have a signal.
USXpress has turned into a complete newbie company. The cruise control is worthless because their newbie radar cuts it off every 30 seconds, slams on your brakes and kicks in your jake brake anytime another vehicle gets within 350 feet in front of you. If you're shifting gears when it decides to do this, good luck, because you're out of gear and out of control. The D.O.T. should ban these Meritor radar systems as they often cause the driver to be out of control.

Life experience, Move on. Something should of told you too run when 40 other people are crammed in room and the company has a in house doctor for new "employees". lol
4 days later rinse and repeat.

We work at US Xpress. The key to success at this company is to get on a dedicated account. We average 5,000 to 6,000 miles a week with a 4,700 mile guarantee. We could do more but we like to shower everyday.

    1. 90% of our loads are drop & hook
    2. Its 44 cpm if you don't have HazMat
    3. You can opt out of per diem
    4. We never have a problem with the "newbie radar"
    5. All companies require you to get a medical card thru them.

I agree with you that they should have you hired on before you get to orientation. I don't like that part either.

You assume a lot. We do have hazmat, OTR drop and hook % is different than dedicated; if you don't understand how dangerous Newbie radar is, I'll be happy to explain it to you; No, not all companies require you to get a medical card through them; (Using an absolute is setting yourself up for a lie).
I'm happy that your dedicated route is working out for you. My statement is meant to advise on their irregular route OTR team/hazmat setup.
Thanks for advising people to get a dedicated route. It seems more stable.

I agree that OTR is a waste of a drivers time. I tell anyone who will listen that if you plan on getting on with a mega carrier then the way to make money is getting on a dedicated account. Otherwise, you have to bust your @** to make money.

Mine does, IF you want them to pay for it. Otherwise, yes, you can get it anywhere.

Funny you mentioned that. They will be dedicated out of New Caney at the grocery DC. Getting lost should be a whole lot easier for them now. Greatwide/Cardinal's o/o didn't want to work weekends and having lots of late loads and pick ups. Will see how USX does at it.
