#dca - You didn't read what I wrote. It was the Trainer, the Company Trainer to whom I was assigned, who drove the truck straight into the gravel, where it got stuck. The point of this Thread is that some of the Trainers have no experience, no common sense, and have no business training drivers. #Duh.

Hitchhiker was smart not doing what his trainer wanted in this case, otherwise he would have to had to pay for the wrecker. Some places you're better safe then sorry using your good judgement whether the spot looks too soft for a rig to park there.Heck ive had to ask customers I delivered to shovel the dock because im not going to chance it getting stuck.Had to ask customers for a different dock because of large pot holes.Im not going to ruin my equipment for no one. Then at trk stops, some of those places have pot holes big enough to sink a car and some nothing but mud pits.I don't care who u are even with a trainer,if you're in doubt then use your judgement not the trainers.

Welcome to The Truckers' Report Jimbyers.
Sorry to learn of your misfortune.
I wonder, however, if your post quoted above somehow managed
to wander into the wrong thread. If that's the case, contact a
Moderator or a Staff member and they'll be glad to correct the
    situation.

Meanwhile, we hope that you'll take some time to explore the
various features available here as well as the many helpful
posters who might offer suggestions that can get you back
on the road again. It's also quite possible that you'll be able
to provide helpful information and/or advice to those seeking
answers to their questions. I think you'll find TTR is a good
place to relax and enjoy yourself while keeping up with
what's happening in the Big truck truckin' industry. Please
consider this an open invitation to join in on the many
    conversations and post often.

No aftershock, jimbyers is in the right section. I posted earlier that these bottom feeder companies will basically hire anyone from newbie to a dopehead and they will in given time is what I meant. I've seen companies advertising if you have a felony or drug charge or whatever as long as it's X amount of years old (varies) we'll hire you. I didn't say if u go home and smoke dope u can get a job that next week. Anyone that has drove a truck longer than a few days should know by now that dot isn't messing around anymore, we know randoms exsist and they can even plug into your truck and download everything you've done over the past days if you get in a wreck, happened where I'm at we run paper logs and big petes and an old man died and ran into the back of one our tankers dot showed up and plugged into the truck even though it was the other guys fault and they knew it. Just the way it is now days

Good. You should thank him for that, if nothing else.

It doesn't matter if it feels like "slave labor", the fact of the matter is you had someone to refer to if you had problems while dealing with a wide variety of situations.

Most trainers that manipulate trip planning do so to make the rookie do the long haul, with the trainer taking care of stops (this method nets more miles per week and is a lot less hassle as there are no bothersome questions about procedures). That your trainer forced you to do the heavy lifting shows that he was out for more than using you for miles.

I'm not really understanding how this is helpful or even relevant?

First you insult your mentor's appearance, and then his (perceived) lack of hygiene. Is this supposed to mean he can't train you?

His truck, his rules. Your truck, your rules. My truck, my rules. Does this mean he is a bad trainer? Don't you make your own rules pertaining to your truck? Why shouldn't he?

When I trained a few years back, my trainer made me do 100% of the backing as well, since she already knew how to do it and I didn't. I also had to traipse into each customers's office/yard/dock to learn how to deliver and pick up loads. I don't understand your complaint? Were you hired to run team with this person, or hired to learn his job?

Comparing on the job training to slavery is downright offensive. You were an endentured servant at the very least, since there was a paid job for you if you could complete the training and you were free to leave if you didn't want it.

Seriously, dude. Sounds like you were brought there to do one thing and then decided you wanted another thing. I think they call it "sour grapes".
