That article and others I have read said he "had not slept for 24 hours", none I have seen states that he "drove for 24 hours straight".

Why would you admit you haven't slept for 24 hrs sounds kinda dumb for me. Fits the attitude of their divers though thinking they're better than th rest of us

The HOS rules and eLogs can only dictate when and how long a driver can DRIVE. They can not dictate how much sleep a driver gets or even if a driver gets sleep and the amount thereof. If a driver wants to spend his 12 hours off duty in a casino or help someone move, then began driving, that's on him.

True. Elogs cant MAKE a driver sleep or even rest.
What if the driver logs sleeper and had insomnia. Elogs dont really keep anyone safer. Honest people will be honest. Dishonest people will be dishonest and a computer wont change that period. Btw I'm on Elogs myself and I dont mind just agreeing to the point above.

Next will be mandatory ankle bracelets that must be kept in close proximity to the sleeper for a minimum of 8 hours, Circadian rhythm monitors/REM monitors to make sure you are properly rested or your truck wont move. Don't even laugh: If it's stupid, expensive, intrusive, and profit hindering, big brother will mandate it.

It really doesn't matter how much something is regulated or controlled by the government. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THOSE WHO BLATANTLY DISREGARD THE LAWS AND REGULATIONS!!! The only people affected by more control are the people who abide by the existing laws. Even then, normally honest, law abiding citizens are forced to find ways of circumventing the strictest regulations in some way or another just to survive day to day. Elogs are a perfect example of this. If a driver or company wants to fudge their Elogs, they will.

Just because the HOS don't say you can drive all day, stay up all night, and drive the next day doesn't mean it is "legal" to do so:

This is where e-logs really prove to be a tool used to make the roads LESS safe, because the company sees the Qualcomm or Peoplenet or whatever other e-log software the company is using showing that the truck has been parked for 10 hours and that it should be rolling, so they start pestering the driver to get him on the road because the load HAS to get there. Nevermind the fact that the driver was up all night puking his guts out or waited 3 hours for a shower and didn't get to bed until late. Stuff happens out here that the silly computer just can't record.
