Sorry you had such a bad experience with NCI. Did you just quit recently? Was you west coast regional?

With the lose of the Brawley plant Ive heard a few issues with the west coast drivers.

Running all 48 company truck they keep running my tail off.

    Welcome to the forums Furball21.

I really could agree with you Gabe. But he says he was company. Im a company driver with NCI and wouldn't sign a lease with any company regardless who they were.

    Big Ole Bear,

I live about 5 minutes from the Irving, TX terminal and I'm thinking about getting back into trucking after being out for a few years. I have a couple of questions for you that I would prefer to ask someone that actually works there and not ask the recruiting department for obvious reasons.

    1. How does your manager treat you? Any calls on home time asking you to leave when you just got home?
    2. How often do you get home? I don't mind being out for 2-3 weeks at a time, or even longer sometimes. Do they give you adequate home time compared to how long you were out? I don't expect to get a 4-5 off after being out for a week or two, but if i'm out for 3-4 weeks, I don't think 5-7 days off is too much to ask, all things considered.
    3. I would like to do a company truck, as my last trucking job/lease left a very sour taste in my mouth, hence the 4 years away from trucking. Won't say the name, but every new guy leaves after ninety days. Do they assign you a truck that's "your's" so to speak or do they make you swap trucks? Do they provide a CB for you?
    4. What in your opinion makes National a good company to work for? How long have you worked there? O/O, lease, or company? How often do you see new drivers coming on-board?

    Thanks in advance!

#1 My DM and I have after 4 years become IMO good friends. When I take home time I tell him when I will be ready and he will ask me to call him the day before. I did have 1 time a call asking if needed could i cover a repower the night before I was to return as a last resort. 20 minutes later got call they had it covered and thanked me.

#2 Company policy was 1 day off for 6 out. I believe they ask for 2 weeks notice on scheduled home time but dont quote me on that.

#3 I drive company side also. I wont do a l/p with anyone regardless the company even NCI.I like the not having to worry if I take a week off about lease payments, taxes and 9000 other issues that go with L/P- O/O. Yes my truck is mine so to speak. Only time anyone else other then I have driven it was someone for the first 28 miles on the odometer or shop dude doing road check on small issue I had. They dont issue a cb, ya gotta get your own.
