I understand the whole cleanliness is next to godliness thing but I really wonder how some people get anything done sometimes.

I had a verbally abusive trainer at Swift who owned his own truck and was beset with personal problems, and I think he gave up on training me to protect his truck and used me to make money for him. After training I had two accidents in a month and was put on unpaid leave.

Faced with probable termination, I asked to be re-trained. They said, "Why didn't you tell us about this guy?

I do give these people high marks for putting me in a hotel for two weeks and training with a good person. They didn't have to do this. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks later I took down a medium sized tree in a tight parking lot, and was asked to resign.

What I couldn't do was manage time. You learn this on your own. Customers eat up your time. Limited parking spaces, no empty trailers, jammed truck stops and gas lines drove me nuts. My accidents happened when I was overly tired and out of DOT time and I couldn't avoid these situations. Perhaps I learned that the winners were the ones who learned how to subordinate the company's best interests to theirs.

Truck driving could be a very enjoyable profession but for me the laws and the problems in equal proportion wouldn't let it. And I didn't last long enough to learn how to win in these situations.

These trucking companies really need good drivers. I did everything I could think of to succeed, but couldn't make it. Swift tried. I just hope my case didn't discourage them from giving people second chances.

Umm... Crappy trainer or not, YOU HAD 3 ACCIDENTS RIGHT OUT OF TRAINING? Dude, that's all your own fault. You should have learned how to not hit stuff in CDL school. If you wanna blame driving tired... why were you? Why were you running your clock out? A 14 hour day still doesn't forgive accidents that often.

Sorry, I just couldn't stand the attitude as if you had bad luck and weren't given a THIRD chance or that your accidents weren't your fault. IDK what the first 2 were, but hitting a tree..?

I'm sitti g in a Swift Truck, its 3:41 a.m. I can smell my Mentor, he picked me up on tuesday 9/30/2014, its the next month 10/4/2024, still no shower or change of clothes, not me, the Swift Mentor. What have I gotten myself I to a hobo camp? This guy yells at me, when I'm double clutching, which makes it worst, its still new to me. I won't say its Swift, its this individual that don't posess the necessary communication skills as in not know enough English or intelligence and professionalism tha t one would expect out of someone that in some Educational, this dude can barley read english, but he can drive a Semi very well, he is a total jerk.. This Swift Mentor told me that the place where I trained sucked, although he has never meet them. When I asked about the origin for the hours of service, he said that he didn't care. This dude said that my voice seems to light for a man, yea crazy stuff. Really? It seems that he has a problem readng English as well as speaking it, he tells me that he can explain better in Spanish, I don't speak Spanish. After I called for a other mentor, then shortly after he said that I should call a cab, out here in the middle of nowhere, not much money, then he said that I should ride in the truck to the next terminal, but he continues with the insults, thsts when he o ulls out the knife, I suppose to intimidate me. He continues with this crazy, babbling and that smell is still there. This nasty Truck, I need a mask, to filter out the body odor, its rank. I'm new to trucking, but I'm nobody's hobo, I'm not against getting my hands dirty, but I wash them, I wash me.
I called Swiftagain and informed them about the deterioting situation, I told the Lady about my first call, that I was told to get to Memphis by Monday, thst I have a lot of stuff and Im in the middle of no where, that I never imagined that I would be stranded like this, I told her about bim saying thst the people that trained me suck. Shasked what the truck number was, I told her the number, she asked me to hold, she came back and told me that she had sent the mentor a load to Memphis. I walked back to the truck, the mentor was standing in front of the Qualcomm and said no load, I told him that if he refused the load that they want him to call them, he told me thst this is his truck, b is business, thst it won't benifit him to go to Memphis.

I called Swift support a third time and told them that he refused the load, a Supervisor called him

Its the next day and we are still at this truck stop. I don't know what is gong to happen.

When I reported the problems, immediste steps were taken, so if you are considering Swift, I say go for it, altbough at themoment I don't think thst I'm in a safe environment, because this trainer seems to haven't violent tendencies and mood swings.
This trailner, Mentor is a Swift Owner Operator, supppose that makes a difference.
Hey, I can still smell the odor emmminating from this dude, all over this Truck, don't want to be here
Want to be in this touchy situation, but thats where I find my self, I hope that he will keep his knife in his pocket and not do something stupid, like trying to step this way and fight or cut me, I don't recommend that course of action, naw, I really think thats the wrong thing to do.
I came to Swift because they didnt want me to sign a Contract. He just woke up and called me his friend, must be a morning person.
