My truck was a 2008 Volvo and I kept it immaculate. My last level 1 I went thru i came out with decals for both truck and trailer and was complimented by the inspector for having the cleanest 2008 truck he has seen in a very long time. I used to use my personal money to take care of my equipment bec my cheap ### EE boss was too nasty and cheap to do so. As for the other post about not being able to do better, I've been offered positions at a few large companies such as Carroll Fulmer and Heartland, but I choose not to work for any of those companies.

Do you think some of the EE drivers are more or less "forced" to drive? As in they don't have a choice as they are obligated to repay a debt of some sort? I sometimes get the feeling that they are not in that seat because they want to be...more like do it or else.

Am I out of line thinking this?

Well most of us are kinda "forced" to drive. Thats how we pay bills.

I never had anybody giving me ultimatum,do it or.... Nothing like that.

Story of typical Chicago truck driver is this:
-first you hear stories from other drivers, about miles, money, no sleeping, west coast, east coast,traffic,scales...
    -then you get your cdl
-then you fight to find a good company because you have no experience and insurance wont take you
-then you find shady company with shady insurance, you drive for few months, get some experience, lear how to cheat on log book
-in the meantime you are talking to the drivers from other companies, weighing good and bad and eventualy you switch to better company
-after that ultimate dream for most drivers is to buy their own truck , so you can be your own boss, refuse loads,go to work when you want,or maybe work hard and buy 4-5 trucks and become dispatcher

Im not saying there is no forcing in some EE companies, but when you think, everybody can be forced, either by dispatchers and brokers, or by law if you're on e-logs, coz your hours are all messed up so you have to drive when tired.

I am not aware of any sponsoring from the old continent but a lot of these guys are afraid to quit because many of these EE companies refuse to pay your last check(s) if you quit even on good terms.

Guess I was dancing around asking if "organized crime" was involved in some of these outfits...possibly, maybe or allegedly.
