    I shoulda been born a scam artist. Then I could rip unsuspecting drivers off with
    l/p and the like and not even feel guilty about crushing hard working drivers' hopes and livelyhood. Instead I'm just one of those hard working drivers workin for the man. ;)

    Lease purchase program = RIPOFF. That's what I will always stand by. It's basically nothing but a way for companies to saddle an unsuspecting driver with ALL of the costs of operating a truck while charging him or her an exhorbitantly high payment, and if anything happens, the driver gets thrown under the bus. I know of a couple of accountants that specialize in doing taxes for truckers, and they will say the same thing. If saying this riles anyone up, I don't care. Most of the members on here that constantly fight any anti-l/p threads or comments with all kinds of high praise for l/p programs at prime, hirshbach, trans am, etc are actually working from the offices at those companies and pretending to be l/p drivers. If they really were drivers they wouldn't have time to hang out on the sites like TTR, ripoff report, and others, trolling for their companies.

    I'm an l/p driver pretending not to be one...kidding.
    Like I said, I think a very small percentage of l/p drivers with mega carriers do quite well, but they have to be very hard working and fortunate folks. In the end the company still comes out on top of the deal because the driver is all in once they sign and then they got you locked down to do whatever they ask.

    You are earning ZERO equity for all your investment in time and money and financial risk. Why would you do that? Insurance on you and the truck is substantial. The 5 cent escrow to cover maintenance is not enough IMO. You as a truck driver should never work for less then 40 cents a mile today ... and what's in the fine print? who knows. Does the company pay all your tolls and maybe lumpers in addition to their base pay? Is the FSC for ALL dispatch miles? Hope so. Remember, typically the truck will actually operate 4-9% more miles then are actually "paid" (dispatched). This adds in more fuel and [uncovered] truck lease costs. Also read the FSC plan agreement VERY carefully. They are not all the same.And what ever you do, don't let them sucker you into taking any of their MaxxForce trucks as being "superior" off their hands.

    Just think for a dollar you could have four of them. Lonestar truck does that mean it has to stay in Texas?
