You need to keep reading the small print in that Lonestar lease deal?

    Ummm...I'm thinkin....NO.
This is why I shake my head everytime I hear a "mega" l/p program advertised on sattelite radio. Translation; come work for us. Haul our freight. Pay for our truck plus fuel, repairs ect., and make as much per mi. as many company drivers do. GREAT IDEA!!!

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want a brand new truck, not with all of the time they spend in the shop.
    "But it has a warranty!!"
Yeah, tell yourself that when those wheels aren't turning and yet the payment keeps demanding attention....
Then there's that little part about you not being in control of your loads, so you better no PO anyone in operations.

I get that, but the problems and payments dont just go away. It just makes the whole deal sound more appealing to drivers who are starting to get wise to the whole fleece purchase deal. I can see this and I'm a newbie to the industry. Unfortunately many others will sign their life away. It's sad really.

I suppose they will pay you break down pay so you can eat, too. Right?

I guess I don't understand the point of your post. You claim to have 18 years experience, so I would think you've been around the block a time or two.
Are you looking for validation or what? This site is packed with stories of people getting the shaft in a fleece deal.
IMHO, if you want to own a truck, then figure out a way to get financed on one and lease it to a company like Landstar.
Otherwise you're just a glorified company driver.

Its a valid post and in the right forum too. If drivers have done any homework at all and still choose to sign up for one of these thinking its a good deal then more power to them. I hope they are the 1% that doesn't regret it. To the other 99% you should have looked at all your options cause an experienced driver for a good company can make good money and not worry about truck payments and such.
