I know we are not supposed to be grammar Nazis here. We are quick to rag on foreigners and immigrants in this industry for any reason, and I guess I get tired of seeing the English language massacred every day by Native born U.S. citizens.

For those of you talking about what these companies get paid for training, did you really think it was free? Keep in mind the Jr. Colleges and trade schools and universities, don't you know they get kickbacks, as some of you call it, as well. Business is business, whether it's fast-food, trucking, or education, if there is no profit, how will it stay afloat. Business 101.... LOL... Now I understand why I have been reading the quotes that state, if you have no sense of business, then this might not be for you. 16 years and still crying, trucking is not meant for everyone, especially those who can't do math or know how to read a contract... Just saying. I have been in the business world for over 10 years and by now those with business experience, owning a truck, should know when you got more going out than coming in, you have to eliminate some things or rethink and revamp your business plan. I read about a bunch of grown folks doing this and that but just as soon as something is not going their way, what do they do, throw temper tantrums and who does that, KIDS. Put your big boy pants on and make lemonade out of lemons. You chose this profession so roll with it or get rolled over. Find a solution instead of adding to or being the problem. Sorry guys, but it's people like that who lie, complain, and make it hard for the what could be next successful business owner. Trucking is no different than any other business, it's all about who is running that business and how they treat those who are helping to make that business a success, either directly or indirectly. If you are going to give advice to someone, stick to the facts and tell the truth. Don't let your failures and mistakes and oh yeah, regrets be the reason that you decide to crush someone else's dreams. I mean come on, really, fired because you were ill, what's the real truth. Anyone with eyes, that read that can see there are a lot of holes in that tire and a lot of facts being left out. Because if that being the case, you should still be laughing all the way to the bank. Know your laws as well.

I can agree with what your saying. I just got back over the road. I went L/P in the 90's and I made a lot of money and I was happy!! I got off the road for a time to help raise my children. Cumming back OTR, I was really unaware of the predatory games!! It didn't take me long to find out. You live and you learn. I'm just glad I'm not there any more and I don't want others to go through my pain if I can help it!!!

I herd what I herd!! Its just a shame companies have become so predatory!! Most of us just want a piece of the "American Dream" is all.

Local work dried up. I just wanted to stay busy, not get duped!!

I have my facts straight and I'm not a LIAR!! I do have lawyer's looking into my case. Its almost the same as having home owners insurance, and when something happens to your home, they don't want to pay out.. Just ask the people of Louisianan, and New York!! Are they wieners too!? Good luck too you "Good Buddy"!! I hope your life stays as peachy and creamy as you say it is:biggrin_2559:

    i remember o/o were getting a 1.05 a mile then.
Now they're getting .90 a mile for a fleece and there
lined up around the block to sign up for it.

These lease programs are designed for drivers who can't do math.

From the horror stories I've read right here on TTR over the years, those are little more than convenient ways for a company to rid themselves of the operating expenses of running a truck while continuing to take in the revenue from that truck.

    I'll pass.

Exactly right. When will people wake up to the fact that if the company could make more money with a hired driver that that's exactly what they'd be doing.

Companies don't offer lease programs out of the goodness of their heart. They offer them to increase their bottom line. Increasing their bottom line almost always screws the lessee, pure and simple.

Drive for somebody as a hired hand or go out and lease your own truck on your own terms but never ever lease from the company you're hauling for.
