While I don't think Knight intentionally STEALS payroll it has been a problem for a long time with them. I'm not sure if it's that they put incompetent employees in payroll, have too few employees and rely too much on automation (I suspect this is the main issue), or what the deal is. I've been gone from them for quite a while and unless you're a rookie and need a place to start I think you could do much better elsewhere.

Until they lose the account. It happens regularly. I actually moved to Texas (do not regret it) for a dedicated job with them many moons ago. It was great while it lasted.

To be fair, this happens to lots of companies, of all sizes and "greatness".

Its possible to be home 2 nights a week and not two full days a week, i.e. leave Sunday afternoon get back friday night....That actually makes 640 in 6 days, and you are still home Friday and Saturday night.

That is the way most "home weekly" or "home every week" outfits run, and you can keep it.

I stay out for 3, 4, 5 weeks and take a full week off. A 34 hour restart at home, might as well not even unpack your bags...

i understood exactly what he was saying. But since you've only been at this for 1 yr, let me spell it out for you. Taking a 15 hr break at home, twice per week, is not good hometime. There is nothing "peachy" about it. I average around 2800 miles per week and I am home at least 60 hours per week (get home Friday evening, leave Monday morning). More often than not, I will also get by the house at least once during the week for a 10 hr break.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you work for a mega-carrier since you feel that such a small amount of time at home is "peachy". If you've really got a years experience, it's time to move on to a better job. The megas are great at brainwashing drivers into believing that time at home is a privilege, but it doesn't have to be that way. You can make a good living as an OTR driver and still enjoy life outside of the truck, if you get with a good company.
