Gulick Trucking was dismissed from the complaint according to the PDF DustyRoad provided. And Gulick was not held responsible for refusing to hire driver after Unrein fired her for refusing to drive truck with bad front right steer. (Unrein had 5 trucks working for Gulick.)

Still very cool, though, with back pay @ $600/week plus interest and attorney fees, all going back to 2011. That's a long, slow, twisty process and not enough outfits that do this get tagged for their bad behavior. Will driver likely be a pariah to other outfits as a result of this 'victory'?

Is this a Pyrrhic (victory in name only) victory? Is there anything to prevent Unrein filing BK (bankruptcy) and driver gets zip? Will Unrein do this and start right back up?

We, as drivers, are the ones that must practice safety. Inspections are a must. I perform an inspection everyday at the beginning of my day without fail. The reason is i was one of the first to an accident scene 6 years ago involving a big rig and 2 minivans full of families going on a trip. It will always be etched in my mind holding a 2 year old dying in my arms and nothing i could do to save her. Nothing i could do hearing a van of people burning to death because it was so crushed i couldnt reach em and get them out. Found out this driver was driving illegally with a truck that should of been in the junk yard because of all the problems it had. He got off easy since he was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the crumpled truck. He died instantly. I did not get off easy. Took me a longtime to just come to the realization i couldnt of done anything at all that day. Maybe that is why i am so cautious and make sure my rig is taking care of. I never want to be that driver. Never.

sadly, many drivers do not understand the provisions that protect them listed in the STAA act. I've been in this situation before and have gotten into arguments that affect my safety and the publics safety
