And I don't agree with you, either.
Like I said before, just read the threads on this here TF.
Plain and simple: The mega trucking companies are paying their drivers less than the hourly minimum wage.
All of them. Period.
Any effort to blame the drivers for this is ridiculous; as if the drivers are mainly responsible for such substandard pay, up to and including their "attire".
Fact is, if anybody wants to continue the focus on driver responsibility, then perhaps the best thing a driver can do is move on to something better. And he does.
What's all that about water seeking it's own level? Huh? Nature chooses it's own course?
Take the reviews in here with a grain of salt

Well in a round about kinda way they are....... Let's say every blue collar job in a county is gone and won't ever come back no factory, warehouse no nothing .....Where do you get a job with no skills...?
On Craig's list..... We'll train you to drive the big rigs, no credit check etc. I think you get my point.... -

I resemble that remark, I am 3rd generation driver, my son drives now that will really irritate you for him to say hes forth generation, and also was taught by me and my Dad. Not necessary better but he can back into a dock blindside, because his trainers had more than 6 months experience. He also drives for CRST because that where he wanted to go even though I recommended another company. There are several post on here negative about CRST, but he has actually liked driving for them so go figure, a lot of things people complained about were just n big deal to him.
Everybody at a company has something to do with how well you do, from the DM to the trainer, just de[ends who you get all the way thru. -
I didn't expect this thread to become as popular as it did. Allow me to address some points brought up:
1) Minimum wage is $7.25/hr. A 40 hr work week will give you a gross check of $295 a week. I regularly grossed $850 a week at CR England. That's more than twice minimum wage. That debunks myth A. There's no 'secret' either. All you have to do is keep those wheels rolling. You aren't going to make any $$$ sitting at the buffet complaining about not making $$$.
2) Most people quit because their expectations were too high and their standards were unrealistic. For example: if home time is a problem for you, THEN DONT DRIVE OTR. Stick to daycabs and box trucks.BrenYoda883 Thanks this. -
People getting into trucking is usually by alot of misinformation. Not just on the companies behalf, but other drivers as well.
I have a friend who was retired military and LEO. He kept hearing from his neighbor, who's an owner op, how much money truckers make. Owner op was telling him how he pulls in $2500 a week and how it's so easy. I told him maybe one day you will own your truck, and that'll be realistic.... but it's not for you as a newbie.
He did, what I think is the worst thing possible to do... he went to a nearby petro for dinner and started talking to drivers. Of course, he got the group we all dread.
"I make $1500 a week and tell my dispatcher what I want to do, he doesn't tell me"
"I work for swift, and the only one allowed to haul nuclear warheads. I make $2000 a day and can have my escorts take anyone out"
Surely I'm embellishing with those stories, but you get the idea I assume.
I kept beating it into his head that it's just not going to be great for a while. He couldn't grasp that concept when so many truck drivers were telling him about all the great money they made.
So, sure enough he attended driving school. Finished up, all that BS and so on... i start trying to guide him into good starter companies. Again, he screwed up by running into a Werner driver doing a family dollar dedicated in his town. The driver told him he brought home $1200 a week, was home every other night and so on.... that's all he needed to hear...
He went to werner, made it 1 year and quit trucking. I've been lied more to by drivers than I ever have by a recruiter.Shaggy76, BrenYoda883, Toomanybikes and 1 other person Thank this. -
