I was a company driver for USXI for the past year & I encountered the following challenges while driving for them:

    1. Home Time - I typically went out for 28 plus days and returned home to NJ for my entitled 5 days off. For the past six months, they delayed or attempted to route me away from getting home. It got so bad that I threatened to abandon the truck down in SC and to find my own way home. In that instance, I had to tell them how to plan and get me home. On several other occasions, they harassed me during my 10 hr break because I refused to accept loads that would not route me home. They broke the Home Time Contract in June by sending me home 7 days late.

    2. Equipment - I had a 4 year old Peterbilt that was constantly in and out of the shop for maintenance. In addition, the fleet of trailers that the company drivers use are aged and in bad shape. I lost many hrs dealing with trailer maintenance issues due to a Breakdown Dept. that has to be considered one of the worst in the industry. Typical hold times for speaking with a living, breathing soul at the BD Dept. was 45 mins to an hour. I was hung up on 3 different occasions when I had been waiting patiently on the phone for in excess of 1 hr. Some drivers refused to deal with the Breakdown Dept. and would hit the road with bad tires, lights inop. etc. Dedicated drivers on the other hand get to haul newer trailers. I worked the Meijer account in Ohio a few times and NEVER had a Meijer trailer that was over 4 years old.

    3. Workers Comp. - I broke/dislocated a finger while in the Sleeper Berth. They denied the claim stating this was not work related even though the DOT mandates the 10 hr reset period. I have a pending law suit against USXI at the time of the writing. Also, there is currently a Class Action Suit that has been filed against USXI for ignoring Federal Minimum Wage guidelines. (There's also 4 other other companies named in similar suits for the same offense.

This is a company that really doesn't care for their drivers but is rather more interested in pinching pennies. On several occasions I had to take the tractor or trailer to a truck stop for repairs and the shop would laugh when I told them I was with USXpress. Seems that they also had "issues" with getting a hold of our BD Dept. for repairs.
    Take care and be safe...-Jim

How did you brake your finger in the sleeper berth? All the other stuff I can see where you're coming from. The problem is companies do not care although all the ads and websites paints a different picture. Then they wonder why they can't keep drivers.

    mje and Drac1985 Thank this.

I worked for them for 2 years, total for one yeae, and now Arnold for 2 years. Only thing I agree with is breakdown department. Arnold created their own breakdown department so I no longer have to deal with them.

I never once had an issue getting home on time, which was Florida, so they did a pretty #### good job. There was one instance I was called and offered $350 to not go home and stay out for an extra week.

The trailers.. mostly good. Ran into a few bad ones but it's expected with the massive trailer fleet they have.

Seems you're a problem child.. threatening to abandon equipment???? And you refuse loads that don't take you directly home? Dislocated finger in the sleeper??? Seriously???

I was in Maryland once and had a relative pass away in michigan. I found out late at night, sent in a urgent home time request for michigan and had a preplan in an hour going to michigan. Was still over 200 miles away after delivery and was told to deadhead where I needed to be. Really no gripes about them.
