Tango Is Terrible

    I worked for Tango for five months and three weeks. In that time I went from the Dallas to New Orleans lane after the first month to dedicated Valliant, OK. (International Paper) for the remaining time I worked for them. During that time I saw 30 plus new people going through orientation weekly, and more than that leaving at times. That aside, my experience there was not good to say the least. I kept hanging in there thinking that it would get better but it never did. I was told that I would average 2400 miles per week at .42 cpm. I averaged 1500 miles per week and had a three high mile weeks (2800). Most weeks were low miles.
    I was promised bonuses for some loads and never received them even though I met Tango's criteria.
    When I took my wife with me I was dispatched on only two loads and worked only two days (lack of work). They then sent my wife and I home for the remaining five days of that week. I paid $25 for insurance so my wife could ride with me that week.

    When I told Tango that I found another job and that I needed to bring their truck back to their Shreveport terminal (that is what we were told in orientation to do), they said that I had to haul a load out there or they would charge me for the mileage (they never said that in orientation). I did what they wanted because I didn't want anything negative on my DAC report (which they probably did anyway).
    One load from their Dallas yard to Carrollton was supposed to pay me a flat rate of $50. Instead they paid me for 3 miles @ .42 cpm. I sat for almost three hours waiting to get unloaded on that load. I had to haul that load in order to get trailer because I had dropped mine the previous week for days off and someone took it.
    Then Tango sent me to Pepsi in Dallas. I sat for three hours to get loaded and then hauled the load to Shreveport, gave them the keys and had my father in law come get me and take me back to Dallas. Tango said that they would give me the price of a bus ticket $80 for the gas. They gave it to me on a Comdata check but then took it out of my last paycheck.
    They also cancelled my health insurance a week prior to me getting my last check, but then took the insurance premiums out of my last check. I went and had blood drawn 3 days before my last check and now Bluecross Blueshield say they aren't paying for the services because I didn't have insurance coverage at the time. That's a $200 bill that I have to pay now.

    I don't care what some of these drivers say on here, what Tango did to me and continues to do to countless others is highly unprofessional (to say the least), and it should be totally unacceptable. In fact it's down right dispicable. I worked hard for them whenever they asked me to. When they needed someone to get up at 2am and go get a load, they called me because I was a hard worker. That's when those false bonuses were promised to me. I hauled low paying crappy runs when nobody else would and I was repaid with nothing but lies and deceit.
    If you are happy with getting the run around, people passing the buck, and you don't mind a $300 to $500 paycheck every week, then Tango might be right for you. If you have a family and bills in the real world, then you know that you can't support your family on such low paychecks, so you might want to look elsewhere to make a living.

    I now have a good job with a good company pulling a tanker. I did my research and talked to a few of this company's drivers before applying for a job. I now have good benefits and pay. The people haven't lied to me or led me on (open door policy and no passing the buck). They also have plenty of work, and their industry is growing four fold over the next five years. This company paid me more for one week of orientation pay than I made at Tango in any given week. They also flew me across the country and put me up in a nice hotel. No bus here, and no nasty dull dorm room with an uncomfortable bed like at Tango. They took us out to eat at nice restaurants or had good food catered in daily. No homemade soggy sandwhich like the ones I got daily in Tango's orientation. The only thing I have to thank Tango for was all the free time I had to find a much better job. Thanks Tango for being spiteful, heartless, and malicious, you did me a favor after all.

    No wonder Tango has 30+ new drivers going through every week. Sounds like a typical suck OTR outfit.

    I'm currently working for A & R Transport. I'm working out of the Ft.Worth terminal, but they have terminals all over and are based out of Morris, IL. I'm not advertising for them, just happy with them. I know that in orientation I was told that A&R expects to grow four fold over the next five years due to cheaper plastic being produced in the US. China maybe losing some manufacturing jobs because manufacturing plants that use the plastic to produce products are being built all over the US right now. Eighteen new plastic production plants are also due to be built in order to meet the growing demand for plastic. Many of the drivers that I talked to have worked here for ten years or more so it must be a decent place to work. Like I said, so far so good.

    Besides leaving, what did you do about it? Did you just suck it up, like so many other drivers? Or did you take Tango to task, and make them pay?

    Definitely a respectable outfit you're with. I've crossed the paths of a few AR drivers and never heard anything bad. Good for you!

    well, the thing I would like to know is if you were working, how in the world you were able to see 30 plus drivers go thru orientation. maybe that's why not getting miles hmmm. I do not work for them, have never, am recovering from a heart bypass and looking for info on trucking companies to go to. The great thing about having 10 plus yrs driving as a company driver and owner op is its easy to read between the lines. Its a shame you guys get on here and put all these companies down when either they done something to make you mad, or you either did not want to work, or did not know how.

    What's a shame is you signing up here to troll. You're obviously a company plant. You're making a fool of yourself and the company you work for. It's not bad enough Tango does their drivers this way, but you coming here and pulling this #### only makes them look even more deceitful. It doesn't get any lower than that. Don't let the door hit you in the ### on the way out.

    Edit: Oh btw, which is it. 10+ years as a company driver and O/O as you say in this post or 8 years like your profile says. My guess is it's neither. Can't even keep a simple lie straight when you tell so many every day huh? You're pathetic.
