I started there back in early September, every thing was fine for the first week. then the pay issues started. you see, there on trippack (still) which is the equivalent of western union telegraph in terms of speed and accuracy. every paycheck was missing loads. A headache every week. Dispatcher was nice, but I honestly don't know where they found him. I would get sent to loads he said were ready, only to drive all the way there and find out they weren't even loaded yet. once or twice ok, but come on. So all these problems later, I did the right thing and told them id be leaving after my next week out. They said they want the truck turned back in in roaring spring pa, and I said no problem. Im not an ### and theres no way id leave a truck just sitting. They said once I turn the truck in, id get a ride with another driver back down to NC. Sounds fair so ok. I get to the terminal and turn my key in and they say, we have someone to take you to the bus station. (they acted like the 15 min ride was very generous on their part) I said, uhh, you said id get a ride down with another driver...they then replied we can take you to the bus station. I said I don't have money for a bus ticket, are you going to cover that? after a 2 min phone call there response was basically, nope....one of the top suits said its our policy to have the truck turned in and its our policy not to cover transportation home. He then said and this takes the cake. "Why would I pay for your future endeavor" im thinking because you don't treat someone like that just because it didn't fit and work out. I never had an accident, didn't have a late load, and came off hometime when I was supposed to. etc etc....it just wasn't a good fit.....if I can keep one person away from smith transport, then that's good enough for me...

Technically after you quit you are a civilian to them and if you were to get on one of their trucks and get hurt you could sue them for it. as far as your transportation home, isn't that kind of up to you? I know it sucks and all but youre severing relations with them, cant expect them to do anything after the fact.

Should've arrange your way home a recorded verbal agreement .....these guys don't care about honoring their own word sounds like you dodged another
bullet but now you have to put another mark on your work history..... There are good trucking jobs out here or should i say in here ....hint ( intercity p &d or linehaul pays 60cpm ) .....most rookies live the dream for awhile and find out they not cut out for truckin ,OTR cost me and alot of other drivers
a marriage so i would recommend a young married man to make a solid agreement first !! ....hint look for the $ , i put my apps in strong companies
only and wait for a few calls ,while i keep my crappy payin jobs i smile at em and wait ....better to be dumb as a fox sometimes

well maybe im an old fashioned 33 yr old but your supposed to honor your word. This was just a piece of ###### move by a bunch of piece of ###### people. I eventually talked to my new company I start a week from Monday and they stepped up BIG and reimbursed me for the bus ticket home. If they would have told me id be riding a bus at my own expense home from the start that's one thing. But to lie and do that out of nowhere? Don't think so. You don't treat people like that. Its rude and ignorant. Been driving almost ten yrs and this is a first

Some companies will pay for your transportation home if you quit but I wouldn't ever expect it. You gotta have some money put away for such occasions if the terminal isn't near home.

Or maybe after working for them a whole few weeks and after they spent money on your hotel, ride up and orientation only for you to quit, why would they cover your ride home? And why doesn't anyone have money for a bus????

what an ###. everyones not rolling in the dough...as for me, I had open heart surgery last December, out of nowhere. was out of work from dec to april. every dime went to playing catch up, bills etc...130,000 dollar surgery after insurance is quite a bit of money. and as for working for a "few whole weeks" I don't stay anywhere where there are so many problems from within, from pay all the way to dispatch. I take your comment with a grain of salt anyways, especially after seeing your location as the "highway to hell" consider the source I guess

It's not hard to put $20 a week back for an emergency fund.

When I started driving truck I got a credit card that was for use in an emergency only. No buying a cb, lunch, or anything else. After 22 years it is still in my wallet.
