I recently had a short time working for JB hunt and it was awful. I was told by the recruiter I would make between 900 and 1000 a week (lie). They don't pay deadhead miles unless you deadhead to get a load so what they do is tell you to deadhead to a city because they don't have loads right now then once you get there they magically found a load. I was on my first week heading to Denver and I got a call informing me a family member was in the hospital. I told JB hunt I needed to get home NOW at least for a couple hours to see what was going on..they told me they didn't have any loads going from Denver to phoenix. (########). I got the run around for 4 days before I got home...I was told by a load planner that the load getting delivered was more important than getting me home. I already decided after that I was going to turn my truck in. Your #### load is NOT more important than my family. I finally get home and on the 2nd day I got appendicitis and had to go in for emergency surgery. To cover my ### tried calling to tell them what was going on and that I wouldn't be retuning to deliver the load in phoenix but never got a response. Now at this point they still don't know I was quitting. I finally get a call back and they wanted me to return to work. I told them I have to be on light duty and no driving for 2 weeks per doctors orders. I was told I would have to quit. I said I don't want to quit I want to continue work after my recovery is done. (I know the FMLA laws and 1 year before it can be used thing). I was told I didn't qualify for FMLA and I would be classed as voluntarily quit. Once again I said "I DON'T want to quit, I had EMERGENCY SURGERY, I can't help that I got appendicitis and can't work on narcotic pain killers; you guys are going to have to wait until I recover and reissue me a tractor or fire me because I REFUSE TO QUIT because I got sick with something I have no control over.". The only response I got from that was well we are classifing you as quitting.
We need to put an end to this behavior, JB Hunt thinks they can get away with this because they are big. Let's all pool together and bring a class action lawsuit against JB Hunt. If you have evidence of JB Hunt treating you poorly and think you have a case send a brief description of what happened to you, how it has affected your life negatively as well as your city, state, name and contact info please, no addresses or personal information. When I say contact info I mean phone number or email so a lawyer will have a way to contact you.

Just because you have emergency after emergency does not mean that those paying you to do a job have to go out of their way to instantly accommodate you.
It would be nice if they could but now you are trying to organize other drivers to ruin them? You are really over reacting here.CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
Being treated "poorly" is quite different than violating the law. If companies could be sued via class action for treating employees poorly (subjective) the courts would be backlogged more than they already are currently.
If they actually violated any laws, then you might, and I mean, MIGHT, have something worth filing over.CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
or you could have gone through orientation in atlanta for the intermodal division out of charlotte, and the whole time your in atlanta the people in charge tell you your going to make .35 cpm for all miles and when you show up for first of work in charlotte, the terminal manager says the people in atlanta are wrong you will be making .30 cpm not .35 cpm. true story, lived it thanks jb......

When you have incompetent management that run JB from Arkansas its a given that they clearly do not know how to run a company and it shows in their high turnover

When my father passed away, I was at the IL/WI border, I called in and it took 15 minutes to get authorized to DH back to Chicago yard . I quit because their dispatchers are not right in the head .... they send you to CA to sit there, you can only sit so much. When I was there , JB was ok, now I hear that they are the pits .... I'm glad that I am not there anymore.

Rather then getting home to see what was going on with your family member, why didn't you call the hospital or the person who called you and asked them what was going on if they didn't know then you should have asked them to call you back as soon as they know anything? But if this was an extreme emergency to get home then you leave the trk and load right there and fly home.If JB would have fired you over it then there's a law suit.Companies are not going to drop everything to get you home with their trk especially if you're under a load. But some companies do show compassion and will find a driver to take the load and pay for your way home.JB is one of more then a thousand carriers that loads come first and are more important then drivers.

What cracks me up is you guys go to work for these crap companies without doing research. Some of you that do do research go anyways and then complain when they take a fat steamy dump on your chest. You want to stop these types of companies? Stop going to work for them!
