To understand Falcon, one must know the ENTIRE history of Falcon. :biggrin_25523:
Falcon began many years ago as McNicholas Transportation. McNicholas was teamsters union and a good place to work. One day they closed their doors and reopened under the name Compass. Compass was non-union and put all the McNicholas drivers out of a job. Drivers who had been there for years, loyal hard working employees, were told to cross a strike line and take out a truck, or no job. Compass later evolved into Falcon, the even flakier version of modern driver screwing. It is owned and operated by descendants of the McNicholas family (waves Hi to Don with one finger) and they continue to be anti-driver, anti-family friendly. I still remember the company picnics and and truck rodeo's when McNicholas was a place to be proud of and their drivers were treated with respect and paid well for a good job. Greed changes everything.

Here is the time line from their OWN webpage- so people realize this isnt a bunch of hooey. Notice they leave out any wrong doing where drivers were concerned. Sorry, still people left who KNOW what ya did!

I've been driving for them for 6 months. This company does know your name but they don't treat you much better because of it. My dry van miles have been less than 1,500 a week for the last month. Our flatbed is currently doing well as its the summertime. The team van has Toyota freight to run for good pay. But if you want to do solo van do yourself a favor and don't come here. You will be disappointed in your paycheck. My buddy, Joe, only brought home $70 for this week's paycheck and has had over 150 hours of sleeper time in the last 4 weeks. As far as hometime I give the dispatchers reasons for me to get home every weekend and I complain about getting back for weekends several times a week. I've only been stuck out 3 weekends in 6 months but some of our drivers don't have "backbones" and stand up for their hometime. Most of them are out 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Bye the way, don't believe their website about how many trucks they own, their site says 1,200 power units. That may have been the case over 5 years ago. My educated guess says 500 trucks, of which 100 are daycabs, 150 flatbed sleepers, and 250 van sleepers. They are still sellling off trucks and trailers at an alarming rate as well. They have also closed five terminals in the last 2 months including Toledo, Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Nashville. My last dispatcher was called back from layoff for 2 months and they just laid him off again last Friday. In my opinion this company needs to get rid of their solo van operations immediately as they don't have enough freight to keep their solo van drivers busier than 2-3 days a week. Worst case scenario is that Falcon Transport goes bankrupt by early 2010. Best case is a much smaller company that has half the people and equipment it does right now. :biggrin_25512:

I am still with this company, and its pretty true what was said in the last post. Miles, at best, are nill to none. The closed their dedicated contract with Chrysler, that lost Falcon 33% of their total freight. They are in layoff status with the drivers that pull GM freight (me), and thats another 45%. That leaves 22%, and thats for all the drivers hauling both flatbed and dry van and drop deck. That aint much. Hence why they laid off some of their drivers.

Then they send them a letter a couple weeks latter saying since they havent contacted the company, they are going to consider it a resignation. What a bunch of BS... Hopefully when GM comes back up, I still have a job..

This company was built on hauling for the automotive industry. Too many eggs in the same basket.

Hello Ya'll, I, too, Have been a victim of Falcon. After I got back from my Schueduled Vacation, (Hunting Season) I was running a dedicated run from G.M. in Lansing,Mi to Spring Hill, Tenn. They Worked me 1 week and did more sitting than I driving. Additionally, in the Past Year, The amount of work with Falcon has Dropped off a great deal. On the Order Of 60% less work. They informed me that, They would no longer be able to get me home for my weekly medical treatment. Bottomline is they wanted to put a driver in the truck they could pay less, I had 12 years of service with them.

I started out with Compass/Falcon. in 99' started as a o/o. they were a good co, at that time for a o/o. they treated some co drivers like they owned them. I had good working relations with them. I worked out of the b-ham AL terminal for at that time Jay Bowling. most all the drivers I talked to then had no complaints from the b-ham terminal, it was from other terminals.

I hear they closed the Birmingham terminal too. I was told the B'ham terminal manager started his own company, Blair Logistics I think it is.

Hello guys i also had issues with falcon for the flatbed dept. My recruter told me to driver to the class in gary IN that they have no trucks there. I say OK i understand i get to the hotel in gary and there live who are you not on the room list so i talked them into the room on falcons dime (a good thing got a room to my self) the classes were a joke they gave everyone the awnsers to everything. so everyone passed. They paid me really good for the classes and the mileage there. they tell you to go home and call for a truck ) Ya right i call the lady in the flatbed dept daily to play tag back and forth never no trucks. after 2 months i said forget it. So they put fired on my DAC report right this week they called me and left a message do i want to come back to work for them. I think there crazy. Well they are from OHIO J/K.
    Good luck Driver.

That driver that killed his co-driver was on I-90 a few weeks ago was with this company.
You really have to not like someone to beat them to death while they are driving down the road.
