Jeff: On April 26 your post sounded (at least to me) like you were on your way to Falcon? Did you go and quit, or did I misread your intentions.

    Thanks,

    GG

I agree that the comments about walking on the grass are idiotic, this is a basic psychological test they use to see if drivers can follow directions. actually smart on their part considering some of the people that apply there. I worked there 2 years and most of my complaints deal with the low pay, poor hometime, constant harassment, and disturbing corporate culture that comprise TMC. I have never seen a company that does the things they do.

hey, deadhead home 400 miles unpaid from the east coast to western PA, take 34 hours off but then go load a load of tube at 2am Sunday, then leave Sunday morning in time to make Monday delivery, then we'll call you about your out of route, then swing by the terminal for service and we'll find an illegal snow shovel strapped under your headache rack and give you a bad truck inspection and you'll have to navigate a dozen levels of bureaucracy to get it resolved. oh see safety while you're there so your team leader can give you a stern talking to over conference call about your out of route, which is calculated using miles that don't exist in reality on real roads. work like a dog all week, when you get home, your mediocre paycheck might be in your bank account Friday, maybe Monday. you might have to put your groceries on a credit card until we decide to run direct deposit. but keep that truck clean. DESTINATION EXCELLENCE.

I never lived a more sad existence than I did when I worked there.

awesome, I haven't been by there lately but I'll have to check it out. used to drive by there when I went to Wheatland Tube all the time when I worked for TMC.

I can't stress this enough, there is no reason to work for any local company in the Shenango Valley, they all suck, Strimbu, PI&I, any regional flatbed carrier worth their weight will have no problem getting you home to this area.

I saw a couple Falcon trucks today, pulling falcon trailers. There was a new sign over the Falcon decal on the door. Something must be going on there.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Falcon. I currently work for them now and the problems listed above have been cleared up. I have called breakdown 3 times so far and have been back up on the road within 1 hour. I have been paid for deadheading the 3 times that I had to do it. The pay for loads have been corrected. The only BAD equipment I have found in a tractor is the DRIVER's fault. The drivers do NOT maintain daily maintenance nor report any problems. Recently, I had to grab another persons truck to make a quick run, because mine was in the shop. It was a very good thing I DO a pre-trip, I found the antifreeze needed a gallon and the oil was short a gallon, and it looked like he took axle grease to all the interior. ALL THE DRIVER's FAULT. I report ALL defective equipment unlike some drivers and they do get addressed. Again, it is the DRIVER's responsibility to report defects. The DM's are much better, but it is true the night shift doesn't do much except babysit, but THAT is true for most companies. I have talked to the flatbed drivers and THEY are generally happy with their pay scale and wouldn't switch to the dry box sides of things. I just got a bonus for going into Canada because I qualify for a FAST Card. So I guess Falcon has improved a bit from 2007 and I'm glad. Keep it safe out their.

i witnessed a wreck where a falcon set of doubles plowed into the back of a broken-down truck, killing the driver of the breakdown truck. 2 weeks earlier, i saw another one of their drivers reading a book while flying down the middle lane of the ohio turnpike, pulling doubles. and almost 3 years ago, a a falcon team was rolling along the new york toll road, when one of the drivers climbed out of the bunk and beat his co-driver to death, while they were at highway speed. definitely a scumbag company.

Oh please... I currently work for Falcon Transport. I am a dedicated GM hauler Romulus, MI to Arlington, TX. Gone 4 days, same days every week, home 2-3 depending on how slow I feel like going, pay varies from $625-$799 as it is based off a percentage of what we get paid total to the company per load, excellent medical, vision, dental, 401K plus company match, 24 hour garage at the terminal so when something breaks it gets fixed..... I love it, and since it is dedicated General Motors if you ever apply at Chrysler or Ford, you can get a good union job as you have the best kind of experience.

My only, and I mean only, complaints are that they do not allow a dog (given how ###### the trucks can be I don't see why a dog matters) and the fact that I live an hour from the terminal cause it is a nasty neighborhood being by Detroit so I have a 2 hour commute to and from work each week. lol

Falcon is a good company and they really bust their you know what to make drivers happy. I highly recommend this company to people who live in the Detroit area.

The job is what you make of it. You have to expect that dispatch will always be a idiots no matter where you work, and there will always be problems. As the saying goes, "Same #####, different flies*

All in all, no matter what you went through, at least you can say you haul dedicated for General Motors. That is the best thing you could possibly put on your resume other than actually hauling for a plant like Chrysler or Ford in their Unions.

Falcon is a diamond in the rough if you look at it in the right light and don't let the little stuff bother you. I am on my 5th boss in 9 months and that doesn't stop me from enjoying the stupidity of dispatch trying to call me on hometime. lol

Diamond in the ruff? Really? May want to get your glasses checked.... On top of that, you are getting underpaid. Even at my company's starting pay, that run, done twice a week, would pay over 900. Get a few more years under your belt, and you will realize that Falcon is one of the top 20 bottom feeders of worst companys out there.
