What I see here is the op has too much exp and nothing would have pleased him.In other words you're too good for a starter company.

"Has there been a GOOD Western
    Express post ever?"
Nope. But they do seem to crank out drivers so they must be good liars.

My work history is simular to OP's. I did talk to a WE recruiter but couldn't justify the low starting wage. Made more as a manager at walmart. I am sure something will work out. This forums been great for weeding out non-starters like WE. Wish grain prices were better I'd be happiest pulling a hopper.

    Chinatown and mje Thank this.

What is the starting pay for Western Express?

Also, would you put Western Express in the same category as Carolina Cargo?

Western Express must be doing something right to have stayed in business for so many years, otherwise they would have been put out of business a long time ago.

It really does make one wonder.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

    For the refresher:
    HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
2-DAY REFRESHER COURSE. 1 day of classroom and 1 day of driving
2 DAYS OF ORIENTATION. Quick and to the point, so you can start earning.
You'll start out driving as a team and earn 15 CPM on all miles

To me this seems a lot like over paying for the privilege of getting current.I think its 40,000 miles before upgrading. Remember as OP said most likely training someone fresh out of school.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

It is a horrible place to work. I too made the mistake of going there a number of years back.
I don't believe in violence and I used to lay in my sleeper daydream about shooting up everybody in that Nashville office they are a seriously bad place to work.
And yes they do nothing but lie to you.

I think they are trying to change there name to eastern express specializing in hiring drivers with 23 years experience but took a 9 year restart.

Every unemployed driver loves Western Express, then hates them after they get what they want out of them. It's a two way street. Should appreciate the job, then move on after you get what you want.

The man that started Western Express, at one time owned a company named ExpressCo. Again, they would hire drivers that needed a break and they hired me and gave me a chance to get my career moving. I never forgot that and appreciate it to this day. I didn't need or want a baby sitter; just a job, and they gave it to me. Coast to coast and border to border hard running and kept it in perspective as to why I was there.
