Funny...I hear TransAM commercials on the radio all the time. They claim their drivers "enjoy life on the road". Lol!! You believe that, I got a bridge I'll sell ya!!

As a TransAm company driver, I must say that I enjoy life over the road. These trucks are comfortable with the APUs are comfortable even at -2 degrees. They have asked me to recruit, but I cannot push their lease. Heck, I wouldnt lease for 1.25 / mile. As far as getting my experience, I am very happy here. Its not perfect, and at some point I will be shopping for a company with better medical benefits, cpm, etc. Still, the experience that I so badly needed was acquired with Trans Am when many others wouldn't touch me. We don't carry chains. When the weather out there gets frightful, we shut down. Our blog continously dissuades newbies from leasing. But they get greedy and starry eyed and think they will be a quick study on the lifestyle and learning to drive the truck, manage their time, deal with yhe shipper receivers wait time and learning the costs of fueling, replacing tires, breakdowns and towing. I learned on the companys dime, and not my own. It costs money to live on the road too. We preach this on our blog. Call it a joke, but we do our best to educate so they don't bleed from the temples. Experiences will vary, but I am happy with mine here.

Surely you read the 1,000s of warning before signing on the dotted line? At some point, the people who take on these leases need to accept responsibility. Within the first week of CDL School, three _ years ago, I was warned against leasing from a carrier. Why would a company give a brand new truck to an inexperienced driver? Surely not to benefit you. A little bit of critical thinking should make it pretty clear that it's just another tool these companies use to turn a profit.
Three years later, I have enough cash to straight out buy a truck. No payment, no overlording company. Good things come to those who sacrifice. Truck ownership is something that comes in time.gntorres61 Thanks this.
