Your thread belong in the rants. Those back up beepers are a safety precaution. You made a pretty big case out of this,my guess is you complain on a daily basis and it doesn't take much to set you off does it?

It is a rant, but this is also a direct result of the company's management. Drivers who work there need to be aware they are going to piss off someone, at some point, with that "safety device" that only a tiny number of carriers see the need in. If it's so necessary and saves so many lives, why are they not on every truck? One day (night) you'll see from where the OP is coming.
-
If I was mainly targeting a company like the op is then I would be going directly to them by leaving a message on their FB page maybe sending a personal letter to them.He would get better results to his issue if the company seen his complaint.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
It wont be long and they will be required on all commercial vehicles, it is already a requirement on heavy equipment.

Sleeping in a truck stop with large numbers of drivers who have poor backing skills is nerve-racking enough as it is. The more and more of these backup beepers come into play, the more you're going to find yourself waking up at all hours to see if it's you in danger of getting hit, or your neighbor. Just try and imagine EVERY truck having one of these blasted things!!!
As far as I know, their are not too many people on construction and mining sites trying to get desperately needed sleep, so beepers on heavy equipment seems acceptable in that context.peterd Thanks this. -

We have back-up alarms on all of our tractors. Our insurance company likes that.
Last year some of our drivers pulled end dumps on a construction job. The trailers that we leased had back up alarms on them. Back up alarms on both units left no doubt in anybody's mind which way the truck was headed. Count your blessings.born&raisedintheusa and pattyj Thank this. -
I'm with you on the earplugs. They work wonders.
