I didn't drive for Quality Carriers for very long. My time there was great at first but then turned bad. I started in July, 2014 and was terminated/resigned January, 2015. I got sick with the flu 2 days after Christmas. I went to the doctor when I realized I couldn't even drive 10 minutes without getting sick. Well I used my benefits to go to the doctor. Doc said it's the flu. I presented the paperwork from the doc to my terminal manager and my dispatcher. They said ok no problem, come back to work when you can. A week went by and still sick. They demanded the truck back to the yard or have the police come knocking on my door and slapped with abandoning a truck. Remind you, I was still sick at that point. So I toughed it up enough to drive back to the yard (3 and a half hours away) and dropped it. I alerted my dispatcher via text(which I still have) that I was dropping the truck off because I was still sick. No problem, call us when you feel better. I called today (Monday, 1/5/2015) to tell terminal manager I can roll. No answer, no return text, no return email, no return call. 4 hours later since I heard nothing I called my dispatcher when I was informed that they terminated me. When I asked why he responded that "I quit while under dispatch" now something you should know is Quality Carriers is a non-forced dispatch company. He said we spoke about a run to Memphis, TN and back. I told him via text and phone call I was still sick and could NOT accept the load. He said ok no problem. I never received a work order, BOL number, trip number, anything at all. I didn't even know the product or which trailer. I have all this saved in text messages. He said now my DAC will show "Quitting while under dispatch" and said since I live in a Right-to-work state it was their word against mine and that my text messages didn't matter. So now, 2 years into my career I have a quitting while under dispatch on my DAC because of those fine folks at corporate America. That's just one issue. The other issue is, the affiliate I drove for (QC is a franchise) told me my pay as a company driver was 25% loaded and $.40 a mile dead head. Well what they don't tell you is they prorate your pay to $.40 a mile, all miles, whenever you deadhead more than 100 miles a week. I had to bob tail 700 miles to pick up an empty one day then drag the empty another 1,000 miles back to the yard the next day. I only ran 1 load that week due to the amount of dead head. I received $.40 a mile for all miles that week as opposed to $.40 a mile for 1,700 miles and my 25% of the one load I ran. That added up to be $600 less than what my pay was supposed to be because they factored per diem, layover, detention, and a recovery in as well. So Quality Carriers is great if you only plan on working for them 2 or 3 months. Everything after that gets screwed up. They also had a driver sit in University Park, IL for 4 days, told him he would be compensated for the layover but paid him $0.00 on his pay check. The affiliate I drove for had 28 drivers and from July to now they have reduced the workforce from 28 to 17. They also terminated a guy for calling the safety department for refusing to take a tank that leaked due to a bad internal valve gasket. By the way, that trailer had sulfuric acid. They fired him and put the same thing on his DAC as mine. Last and certainly not least, terminal managers "edit" your pay sheets and short you and pay you how they deem fit. Hence the reason they went from 28 to 17 in from July to now. Keep that in mind if you ever decide to jump on the Quality Carriers wagon.

I would have told them to come get the the truck or wait til im well enough to drive or call the cops if they want to ,there's no law against being sick , also you need to disbute the dac report by calling "hire right" and let them know you don't want this on public record if it's not truth it cannot stay on your dac report and the company has to show proof that you agreed to be dispatched , they can't just put lies on any public record anytime they feel like it and besides that if you're sick you're sick !!!!....they can kiss your butt twice now ....lol

Sounds like you have given them way more credit than they are worth , you have rights too and possession is 9/10 of the law , i would have told them that i would call the law for them ,if that's way they wanted it for all they know you could've been sick all month before they saw their truck again or send someone to get it ....either way they loose and if this had happened to me , that truck would run about 3 weeks and seized up tight on the side of the highway .....it's amazing what a gallon of anti freeze will do to a deasil block ( notice i said 3 weeks later long after you turned the truck back in to them ) ....yes it wouldn't be fair to their new driver but it sure would cost them a chunk doe ,hooking it off the road and replacing engine , i know a guy who wiped out a whole of trucks ,putting tobacco in the tanks caused 60 trucks to break down all over three states wides , doin milk runs , which caused the company to lose ford motor milk runs ( chieftain 2001) this company was askin for it by stealing $ from it's driving force ....there are many other dirty deeds that can put a big hurting any truckin company but it's bad carma for one thing and down right dirty for another ....and sometimes the company wants to play dirty ,only when they can get away with it or so they think

I agree, they helped me with a wrongful termination suit.If drivers would defend their rights then trucking companies wouldn't be so quick to victimize another driver.

Yup , just steal my hard earned $ and see how far your truck will run ! ....you can get mad and sock a guy in the eye ,the eye will heal and guy will forget you ,but if you sock him in the pocket he will remember you alot longer and more than likely he think twice about stealin $ the next driver ....nice to know huh?
