Just a note to my fellow drivers.

Shepherd Enterprise ltd out of Commerce City, Co is showing signed of closing without notice. Their DOT & CSA scores are out of control. They promise drivers up to 100K per year but that is only if your willing to take cash to take a load without enough or any hours. They will use you up and then kick you off the door. The owner will tell you one thing and then tell someones he didn't say that. The road is too long and hard & bad things happen without warning. Plus life is too short to work for a company that expects you to openly break the law as a prerequisite to the job. They promise drivers a dream world because once a driver starts it doesn't take them long to figure out he will never again see his home-20.

I quit after getting a $435 citation in the state of Oregon because the company was suspended for not filing their mileage reports with Oregon. BEWARE!!!!

Man, I was hoping to read that things had changed over there. I did my 3-4 months with them back in 2013. That's pretty much how it was - run illegal, and then get dumped on if you get in any kind of trouble.

I blew a tire on a trailer my first ride out with them. Took 4 hours (in the middle of nowhere) to get it fixed. They literally expected me to continue driving to the next 12-16 hours of LTL drops, as if nothing had happened (I'd already been up for a LONG time). My last ride with them, was coming back from Cali with a load of produce - I -70, climbing Loveland Pass. Thermostat on that p.o.s. 2007 Volvo I was driving, froze up. Engine wouldn't run more than 2-3 minutes without shutting down. They said it'd be the next day before their mechanic could get out there. So my wife and I camped out on an exit ramp. Next day, mechanic never showed. It took me about 4 hours to get it back to Denver; between coasting and stopping on the shoulder to let it cool off. But, I got it back, and I parked it right in front of their business office.

Most of these companies are getting worse by the year. Shepherd is/was a family company. It's a shame they can't/couldn't do better than this.

Yeah they're worse now than ever. First hand knowledge of it as I write this. You not only have to run illegal, now they will flat out not pay you for your work. People, stay away from these thugs.

A lot of things have changed since 2013. Shepherd now has electronic logs. And only run legal A whole new Mechanic staff and a ton of new trucks. I agree in 2013 things were bad but it's not that way anymore. It is not hard to make 100,000 a year there you just have to Be willing to work. They have never offered money for you to run illegal. And They will pay you for everything that you do. As long as you're honest.
