United Van Lines - McCollisters

I worked for suddath for a few years and my dad worked for them for 12 years. Suddath treated there employees terrible, typical politics the dispatchers had their favorites and they weren't afraid to show it

 

I started in the warehouse but I made 10.00 an hour, still crappy for the work I did, I quit working on the books and only worked for contractors during summer time I was making 700-900 a week. Awesome job but you'll work your *** off for every penny

 

My dad has a good friend driving for the Armstrong branch and he owns his own truck a 2004 freightliner he leased from them, and he's making a killing, even after paying labor, fuel, claims and all that fun crap. It was something I wanted to do at one point, it was actually the main reason I got my cdl was to drive for United, but after I started hauling FREIGHT not household, I never looked back lol, yes the money is great, if you know what your doing, but like I said your working for every penny

 

United in sacramento ca, I make 15 an hour ( good pay means you have to have a good boss), and all the drivers I know make amazing money, but im sure everything changes from city to city, we have our politics but the crews that do the work get the jobs, office politics are present no matter where you go. Im jumping into the driver seat soon enough so ill see the inner workings a bit more in depth, and ill let you know if I still feel the same

 

I worked for McCollesters for 4 Years.. The only reason I left was because my Heart was going bad.. They paid good and took care of their drivers when I was there.. I was making $18 an hour. But got reduced when the "Great Recession" hit.. Still made good money though..

Being AN EXPERIENCED TRACTOR TRAILER DRIVER, I had No Problem doing Electronics, Flat Bed, Or Household Moves... So if you got transferred from Electronics to Household? You should have took that as an Opportunity TO LEARN A NEW ASPECT OF THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY.. Not Complain about it..

When working for a Company The Type and Size of McCollesters? The More you know? The more valued you are... Household Drivers work less in winter months... That's just how the Household Industry Works. But if you can do Electronics, Flat Bed, and Freight? You'll work ALL YEAR ROUND. Grossing up to $70.000 A Year AFTER TAXES...

If you quit? That was your choice... However, I wish I could go back to work for McCollisters... They have FANTASTIC BENEFITS. And a Good work Environment... In My Opinion? Your unwillingness to grow in The Industry? Caused you to lose a Great Job...

 

Maybe the dude didn't want to be a bed bugger. Especially after he was told he wouldn't be.

 

First off this thread is years old. I doubt you'll hear back from the guy. Secondly, the gentleman said he was nearly 60 years old! Who the hell wants to learn to be a mover at that age! Gimmie a break.
