I delivered a load for TQL and was 60 cases short.. The load WAS NOT a driver count and the shipper sealed my truck and I arrived with the seal intact. TQL does not want to pay due to the case count being short. REALLY?! I understand if the cases were damaged or etc. But short?? How am I responsible for the shipper miscounting his product? Now TQL won't pay until investigation is over which may take up to 9 months! I delivered safely and on-time and this is what I get in return?? This is like the fifth time TQL tries to rip me off! One sorry company to haul for even though I'm one of their high ranked carriers.. VERY UNFAIR of how they treat trusted carriers who do everything on their end to deliver the best.

So this is the fifth time they have tried to rip you off. I think after twice I would not haul for them anymore. That is just me.
atlasshruggery, Sneakerfix, truckerlife74 and 3 others Thank this. -
Sneakerfix, average joe and icsheeple Thank this.

burn me once, shame on you
burn me twice, shame on me
i dont know how to continue that to a fifth timeatlasshruggery and bigdogpile Thank this. -
You should have wised up after the second time. This is the fifth time and you'll probably do it again only this time make sure they don't seal the trailer before you check it first.

The real problem with the majority of brokers these days is they act as a motor carrier, overstepping their bounds. You are the motor carrier, the claim should be filed against you, and your insurance would promptly deny it if you have documented both shipper load and count and trailer sealed and verified at shipper and consignee. CH Robinson never paid me for a load due to one box missing, and nothing was noted short on the delivery paperwork, it was called in after my driver left.
This is a very well known problem, well documented, but FMCSA and DOT continue to look the other way even though laws are being broken. Your only recourse is an attorney well versed in law regarding transportation intermediaries (brokers, 3PLs) and that will cost you more than the load is worth. Brokers know this and thus continue to get away with it. Try filing on their bond for non-payment, it can't hurt.icsheeple Thanks this. -
SLC (Shipper Load Count) on a Blind BOL, seal # and that the seal was intact, so therefore you are not responsible for that, the blind BOL should just show how many the original BOL number of items copied off of, but you say they've beat you out of money before, so they had no intention of paying anyhow, so go against the brokers bond and don't do business with them again, because you know they will find a way to keep money from hauling.
Used to blind shipments were illegal, but nowadays nobody cares, because you take it to court you got a bunch of nonsense to explain, I have hauled blinds/double blinds, but I refuse to haul them anymore. -
isn't this about the time the TQL defenders jump in and explain that TQL is not really that bad and that they do just fine in their dealings and that it all depends on who you talk with-cough,coughROLLINcoughCOAL,coughcoughSTRATLINERcough

i am sure there are some good brokers at tql, they probably have a few carriers they treat nicely
but the overall sentiment in this industry, from shippers,, receivers, dispatchers, brokers, DOT and our beloved politicians and even amongst truckers themselves is that we are lower than pond scum and do not deserve to be treated with any respect
and until carriers and drivers start standing up and stop bending over, this will continue to be the case
yes, there are some bad drivers,, just like there are bad cops, bad politicians, bad pastors, bad in every field
but that does not justify the docililty amongst truck drivers nor the disdain we get from those we serve
and yes, we serve our country with our work, or else industries would shut down -
brokers are a benefit for the shippers, not drivers
any customer can call us and get a load, but that would be too much for shippers and receivers
so they need brokers to get their freight moved easily
so brokers should be treating drivers as we are doing them the favor
too many times, brokers feel they are doing us the favor and tql is an prime example of that mentality
