Mine is set at 64.8 with the pedal, 62 on cruise. I have seen others that are set aound 66, but I don't know what the story is.

Mine speeds up below the idle standard. I can get 67 on the floor when below it. You would be surprised how much time you spend in the left lane at 67 as opposed to 65 where everybody else is. After driving governed trucks for so long...I'll take what I can get.

I notice that nobody knows what the winter idle percentage is. Anybody ?

Oh just ask a mechanic ? Ha Ha that's okay. All Knight shop managers seem like alright guys but after talking to them I feel like I just talked to a used car salesman AND I really need a shower. KNIGHT SERVICE SUCKS ! Eight hours for a PM. Okay there might be 2 drivers sitting in the joke of a drivers lounge waiting. Where are the other drivers that have trucks clogging up the shops ? At home ? in a loaner ? How about getting the guys WAITING in and out ASAP ? A days pay gone for a two hour job, one if the guy knows what he's doing.

The Carlisle shop installed my wiper blades backwards. The passenger side blade came off in the mist, in a construction zone and at night. So check them or better yet buy real blades yourself and install them. Rain X blades will outlive the truck itself.

When you speak of the freeze alaarm are you saying at 32 degrees and lower the truck will idle more than a few minutes? Just trying to understand, never worked for them.

Exactly! I know I tried everything to get it to bypass that and it wouldnt. The bunk heater(Wabasco) is an aftermarket on most of their trucks, and the very first day I had it, I was on my way up to WalMart in Marcy,NY and I stopped at that first rest area on the NY Throughway coming out of PA and right before Buffalo(the one with the Dennys at it) and spent the night, I used the Wabasco and the next morning that truck was deader than you know what! Cost Knight $175 to have some guy come out and jump me. They tried installing a 4th battery in some of the trucks, but corporate got on to that real quick and made them take the 4th one back out.

Don't feel bad, the Phoenix shop did the same thing to my truck. The blades didn't come off during pretrips for a few days. But when I hit a blizzard on Donner Pass, both of them came off at the same time.

I was NOT a happy camper!

The Volvo's have a 5 minute timer once you start the engine. At around 4min and 50sec a msg will appear on the dash saying Idle shutdown. You depress the accelerator and it will read idle shutdown canceled. And the truck will idle till it runs out of gas.

Anyone considering Knight must remember that they have I think 26 terminals and they run like little independent trucking company's with different policy's or policy enforcement.

On the West side Phoenix and Tulare terminals now have fuel routing.

Portland has lists on the wall of every drivers performance out of their term. Seattle terminal is a yard with a office trailer and nothing more and they don't do fuel logs or fuel routing or worry about idle times ect...

Denver and Salt lake have 4 batteries in their trucks but Phoenix will try to steal them if they go their for services.

If you are out of the Seattle term, the Portland terminal will charge you $30 to get a truck wash and then hope you can get a PO. But you can run through the trailer washes in phoenix and Tulare for free

I talked to my friend who works there and this company does not operate like most large carriers unless you work out of Phoenix which is their main term.

That is what's always amazed me. Knight is, like you said, 25 or so competing companies. I told my dispatcher to stop with the charades, cause I am paying for your little child arguements with other terminals. I tried being civil, but then I had to resort to "you send me "here" again and I'm gonna F that load up so bad...." I wouldn't because that's not how I operate but the threat worked. I can be a child too, I never went back to "here" again because they sit me for two days waiting on a load. UNACCEPTABLE !! Each terminal has other terminals in it's "zone" or whatever they call it. You stay in that "zone" and your good to go.

BUT with so much negativity around here, I don't feel right unless I thank someone. The Kansas City terminal....God bless you guys. 1000 mile drop on their yard and a 1000 mile load off their yard. I thought it was a fluke but it has happend several times, a rare wait for a load but nothing to unacceptable. No BS, no local work, nada, here ya go tear it up. The shop did a few PM's on my truck within 1 hour. Great work guys, you are appreciated !
