Why can't the companies realize that posts posted on this site by anonymous people are entirely opinions based on facts and experiences? I myself am not all about negativity, but you have to give something or do something positive to receive something positive in return. In other words, treat your drivers fairly and you may see nothing but praise about your company on this site.

Unfortunately, the exact opposite has taken effect. Speaking on behalf of personal experience, many people in the truck companies have the "I don't care, you're replaceable" attitudes whenever a driver wants to address a certain issue in hopes of getting it resolved. I have seen and heard it from safety personnel down to personnel that work in the operations department (dispatchers, etc.).

So, until things start to change for the better, frustrated drivers are always going to need an outlet to help clear their minds. It's called stress management. As I recall, some companies talk about it in orientation...

I have come to the conclusion that trucking companies and especially dispatchers aren't lying. They simply live in an alternate reality.

JimDriv3r, you are totally correct. If companies want good press they have to earn it. Unfortunately trucking companies seem to have forgotten that one of their most valuable assets is their drivers. Without them there would be no trucking company. Company officers, fleet managers, dispatchers, and all of the other support staff are a necessary part of trucking but without the professionals behind the wheel those trucks would go nowhere. I sincerely hope that someday the fine men and women who drive professionally will realize they hold more power than they think, and that by joining together they can make change happen. Until then companies will continue to lie, cheat, and mistreat their drivers.

For those drivers who have been fortunate enough to actually work for a decent company...CONGRATULATIONS! You are extremely blessed and you should honor your company by letting everyone know how much you appreciate them. That is a message that will not go undetected by the bad guys. Who knows, they may even contact the good companies to find out what they are doing that is so right.

HEY ALL YOU BIG TRUCKING COMPANIES CAN KISS MY BIG WHITE REBEL #**!!. Can't hire me because unemployed for six months,too many jobs,no over the road in two years,because of this,because of that. The country is in a recession jobs are hard to come by.If you give a person a chance,they may turn out to be a good and loyal employee.So you can just hire your new guy's out of trucking school tell them a bunch of fluff and get them out on the road , run them to death, never be home and let them start missing their families and they will quit and it will start all over again.If these companies so good why do they have Ad's in the paper every week and TV commercials ? I discourage anyone to get into the trucking industry these days.

I'll tell you what is scary about all these newbies. They have been so brainwashed to not listen to older experienced drivers that they can't even park when they have a forty acre field with no obstructions. I'm not saying there aren't some real jerks out here, but if not for the help and advice of so many experienced drivers I would never have been able to make it as a driver. Even now that I've got some miles under my belt I still appreciate when the experienced drivers jump in to give a hand. Whether it's helping hold a cranky slider handle or watching the blind side of my truck when backing into a tight spot, the help is always appreciated and I return the favor whenever possible.

These company trained (brainwashed) newbies need to listen a bit less to what their dispatcher says and more to what experienced drivers say. What I have found is that most of us think of ourselves as part of a brotherhood of fellow drivers. If I help you become a better driver I decrease the number of unsafe drivers out here on the road and this increases the likelyhood that I will get home safely. Keep in mind very few dispatchers have ever been drivers or know what is really going on out here.

The last company I worked for the Boss made a dispatcher out of a drunk roofing salesman.He was also in charge of the loading yard and no idea how to load building materials on flatbed trailers along with new hire forklift drivers.Had a long run and got back at 11:00 pm and was given another long run with several stops the next day.Left out next morning around 4:00 am and later that afternoon I called and said that won't be able to make my last stop,got yelled at and threatened to have my stop off pay taken away for that day.Boss didn't care but I did and drove the truck back and was out the gate before they knew I had cleaned out my truck.Of course the drunk still had his job till he got caught messing around with a female employee on company time,bet his wife is proud of him.

That was in september last year, and I dont think it was a Swift truck but I'm not positive. There is a video of the crash on youtube if you want to see it. I do agree with your point however, the sooner these mega-companies stop using a training truck as a team truck the safer we will all be.

You have to go into the witness protection program and they will get you a new identity. They will get you a new job at K-Mart and like all K-Mart employees you will never be seen or heard from again....

I think if one of the larger companys are Looking around here,they need to get a life. The majority of the office people the driver is a # , and they don,t listen to anything. There all trying to slit each others throat to get a promotion and take off at 10.00 am to go golfing, after they just dispatched you to run 23 hours straight. There might be a big time brown noser in the office, lurking in here trying to get brownie points. Can a USA driver even operate a computer ? haha Just kidden around
