Cool...I am talking with Driver Solutions too. Talked to the recruiter Fri, and took the test that night on eGears. Got to call him back tomorrow to see where we go from there. I was told by another truck driver that is an O/O that they were a good company to work for. He works for another company.

He told me basically to get the year under my belt and go from there. Hoping it works out, because I think I would like the trucking career....:biggrin_25525:

Cool; to all the new Drivers especially with no Experience...(surely,You'all have
to go with a Trainer on the Road) that means learning he basic tricks of the
trade...such as where to Park, where to plan you Truck/Stop breaks and where
NOT To GET INTO....can't learn that on your own, you will have to spent a few
weeks with a Good Experience Trainer. However, that is not the ' Hard-
Part of Driving . The Hard Part is what You Leave Behind. Sometimes, the very
"REASONS" you Get Into Trucking To Begin With....Will NOT BE There When You
Get Back...even if you have just been gone for a Few Weeks. Don't Expect to
Things Back Home to Remain The Same and Wait For YOU!!! That will NOT
HAPPEN! Things Change and they Change very Quickly. So, when you
Experience That ....Don't You Blame The Trucking Company.....It is you own
Decision....Your Choice so don't Blame Anyone but Yourself .

Good luck, and I really do mean it,but understand 1 year IS a very long time if you are with a B.S. company...And if you ARE with one of those..,you will find it to be a lot different than your other jobs.,OTR is a totally different ANIMAL. As I stated in the beginning,-Good Luck..

First off, let me just say that I'm lovin' that pic (Bumpyi49).. It screams determination!! And with that being said. That's me, determined!! No matter what it takes!! I've researched a few other schools that I thought would give me more options when I graduate and get my CDL. But I don't have $4000 in the bank or parents to barrow it from. If that was the case, I probably wouldn't be interested in driving a truck period. But the current situation I'm in calls for results. I'm just going to have to suck it up and do what I've got to do. After a year in the fire, I'm sure more doors will open up for me.. And if not.. I'll just kick em' in...lol

Thanks 4 the reply.. I passed all the e-gears stuff also. I'm just waiting to get the call back and find out what the deal is also. Are you going to be training # C1 in Indy? if so, let me know when you start.

does the state of Indiana give out paper CDL's, or do they give you the real one right there? like a real state should do.

TX gives you a darn paper CDL, so you have to wait 5 weeks for the real one to come in the mail before you can start making money. They made me go to school in TX instead of IN because i live in MD. I don't quite get it. maybe because MD is a nazi state?

I should hear something by wed. this week myself. Ive been talking to DS since late Nov. They wanted me to get up there right away, ..Yeah just up and leave to a whole new career within a week, and right before the holidays. I told em' I'd be more interested at the start of the year. I'm going to ask alot of questions when I do talk 2 my driver agent though. Make sure everything is everything. I'd hate to spend the $ on getting up there and there and circumstances change. I would suggest you do the same. My mother worked for a company called CDT here in Augusta, Ga. about 10 years ago, a division of Roadmaster CDL training. She was a Driver Agent for them for about 5 or 6 years. She told me to ask every question you can think of that might pertain to my situation. Travel, company, lodging, class size, everything. She said there is alot of good programs out there, but theres no room for half stepping, you better be ready for whats 2 come. the first year is the hardest, she said alot of the truckers she helped said they felt like they were working for nothing that first year, and what alot of them failed to realize was that, sure they knew how 2 drive, but they weren't experienced yet. Good money comes with experience. Anyways, best of luck with your career!

I checked another site that is very informative too. www.truckingtruth.com

The guy that runs the site is a trucker and updates it as he has free time, from what I've gathered. He also has a facebook page. Pretty good for learning what to prepare for, as well as I have a trucker from a racing forum, who told me to call any time I have a question or 12. Said it would have made it a lot easier for him if he had someone to call back when he started. He's been driving for 10 years now, and is an O/O.

He was the one that suggested USA-trucking to me. I had been looking into SWIFT, and he told me that he suggest that as a last resort.

Just ready to get started so I can get to work. Good luck on your journey too.
