saved!!!

You can count me in the group that has been saved a lot of trouble because of this site! I'm still not experienced enough with this industry to recognize all the pit falls, but this site made me much more informed and able to make a good choice with schooling and company. Thanks to Wiseone and every other veteran trucker who has contributed to this site! Because of this sites info I have been able to advise several people in my class NOT to go with Werner. I always tell them about this site and that they should read for themselves, not just take my word for it, I know no more than they. Except because of this site! Info will win the day in the end.

I'm not trying to cast a shadow on all the Kudos going around but.....

There's a certain degree of responsibility & propriety that each poster & management encumbers when posting the negative about a company or their respective experiences.

In other words, before posting the negative, make sure it's accurate & wasn't self-inflicted.

This way, new readers seeking information about the respective companies don't immediately discount what could be, for them, a good company or deal.

I know it's difficult to write objectively about an experience when you feel you got the short end of the stick.

By the same token, not everyone employed by a carrier is unhappy or remains there under duress.

I think it's each posters responsibilty to be better than DAC/USIS when reporting a company by affording readers the accurate details which DAC always fails to provide it's subscribers.

That's a good point. It doesn't matter what industry you're in - there's always SOMEONE who's whining about their job and giving inaccurate information out. CROSS CHECK EVERYTHING...

But still this is a great jumping point

If a company was honest and upfront about their dealings with their drivers they wouldnt have to fear this website. It would seem that the ones that are the worst are the ones hit hardest by this site (of course).
Kudos to all who made this possible!

WTG, Truckers Report!!!

Let me tell you what they will do. Since they are currently in the process of doing it.

They will recruit "out of country". And NAFTA just handed them a gold mine.

Point #1 Truck Driving is not considered a "skilled" industry. Therefor there are fewer requirements on the employer for gaining access to Foreign drivers and green cards. Unlike "skilled professional" jobs that require a mountain of paperwork, and proof that an earnest effort was made to hire in country FIRST.

Point #2 We all know the "Driver Shortage" is a claim used by the majors to gain access to these drivers. The meat grinder rolls on.

Point #3 Supply and demand in a free market means that prices/wages go up when there is a shortage. NOT true in the trucking industry.

Point #4 My salary has only doubled in the past 20 years. While the broker/CEO's salary has more than quadrupled.

Well, this seems like a great time to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved with this site!

So far I have avoided plenty of severe mistakes that could've ended up costing my family and myself quite alot.

So, THANK YOU!

(And Wiseone, if you want to do billboards or advertising, count me in for a monetary donation. I talk to at least 3 truckers a day who haven't yet heard of this site!)

Sometimes, this applies. Most of the time, not.

That's true with some outfits, especially those that are small and aren't (well) known.

But with most, especially the hugeantics, we can rely on sheer numbers.

I think I've said this here about 10,000 times already. When one guy tells me a company blows, I'll listen but maintain an open mind. When one THOUSAND guys tell me a company sucks, I'll take that as gospel. I won't worry about those guys being 'objective'. I definitely won't need to weigh whether or not their complaints are really their own collective fault. Nope. With some companies we read about here, I've heard at least 5,000 complaints about each over the years. Do I second guess those guys? Nope. I'll be working for those companies only the day(s) after doomsday.

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

I agree with you Tip.
It's the cumulative sharing of horror stories about a company that lends credance to the good/bad "weighting" for that company.

I just thought I'd throw in my thoughts so others would remember to take the negative posts with a grain of salt.

Granted, if enough of the same types of complaints are lodged against a company there's got to be a problem.

It's those two's & fews about a company that leads me to believe the problem(s) might be self-induced.
