Considering joining Werner? Think about this.. I have been with Werner for over a year. I still have 3 trips out there that I have not been paid for. One minute they are paying me .26 cpm per mile and the next minute they are coming up with excuses why I am only getting paid .24 cpm

They wont take care of their trucks to keep them in safe operating condition for their drivers.. if you want a safe truck, it'll cost you money out of your own pocket.

Save yourself, sont even apply for Werner.

I can't believe there are still companies paying mileage pay in the 20's. I was making that over a decade ago driving OTR.

I agree. Get out of there. As far as not being paid for those three trips goes, well...if you can find the proof you'll need, you can file a wage claim against them and get that mulla. You can do that at your state's labor board office.

You can even do this before you leave 'em.

Wow. 26? You're not kidding, right?

I called werner the other day because I am planning to go to CDL school in February. I was interested in werner's apprenticeship program because I could draw on my G.I. bill for a year which I think would equal an extra $8500 tax free for the first year on top of regular mileage pay. I don't remember the name of the recruiter I talked to but he was one of the most rude people I have talked to in a very long time. I just marked them off my list of companies to apply to even to get started.

you've noticed that too...... Dont judge a company by the recruiter, thats kinda like judging the combo meal by the plastic fork that comes with it

It does seem that OTR company recruiters are a lot like military recruiters. They tell you what you want to hear but not of the bad things are discussed.

Yes that is the norm, for large training companies, weiner, crengland, and swift-which has a lot of truth in the name. But you gotta start somewhere. And sometimes you get lucky and get a good trainer, those are kinda rare, cuz good trainees are not always abundant. i had one guy freak out about being away from his sweetie before we left terminal. My pick for best to start with is Crete/Shaffer, but they are picky and you'd better like the east coast.:biggrin_2552:

to be fair, i have met drivers that loved working for Swift, Weiner and even CR England, that loved it. Even those that have worked for other co's.
:biggrin_2559: i even met a happy driver on his second lease with Prime- proof that it takes all kinds to fill up this world. And yes he was intelligent, dispite who he worked for...... Cuz

  11. In the cheapskate theme... Once upon a time I drove western region with these guys. The regional guys get a sliding payscale.... Lower miles on the load, higher CPM... Higher miles, lower CPM.
Seemed fishy, but was willing to give it a shot... UNTIL learned that if you get a long mile, low CPM load pulled off of you, (before the cutoff)... You DON"T get the corresponding mileage wage for the amount of miles you'd driven on the load. Werner's famous for being 'swap happy' and the region guys get it the worst.
I won't conjecture on if I think it's a deliberate scam, but I DID notice that the number of swaps were MUCH higher, and the reason stated for them never seemed to match up when talking to the other driver. ... Just an example of how the company COULD screw their drivers over on the payroll.
