US Xpress cares

I recently graduated from school and decided to go with these clowns, What a mistake.. First of all they are too cheap to put you up in a hotel, their bunk house is terrible, felt like I was laying on wet concrete floor and room was ice cold... The showers were digusting, had to scrub them for half a hour before I could take a shower. And the people in class room for orentation were extremely rude, I drove to their site insteed of taking a bus, driving was 3 hrs bus would have been 9. During the first day of orentation they kept shoving WE CARE down our throats. HAHA what a joke, I did the three day orentation, finished it yesterday as a matter of fact, then waited all day while they kept telling me they need this from IRS, that from IRS, after getting what they needed they started asking for other stupid ####. My W2's ,, UMMM hello what the heck was that with the IRS I supplied them with?? Then told me I wasn't hired???? WTF kinda game these people play is incredible to say the least.... I waisted 3 days and didn't get anywhere. So now Im back to square one... Thanks US Xpress for jack ####.

I know for a fact U.S. Express pre-hires lots of students for school and after they finish school they say they can't hire them. that seems really weird to me.

USX does not hire anyone until you complete orientation.

Anyone thinking of signing on should first find out from them what you will need to successfully complete the hiring process which DOES NOT start till you go to orientation. Being cleared to go to orientation DOES NOT mean they will or have to hire you.

They could really care less if your time was wasted. I was a employee for them for 6.5 years and they seemed to not care about wasting my time routinely. So why would they care about wasting the time of a perspective employee which is all that you are their.

I see.
but they do pre-hire students. which involves the same basic steps as a regular hire. then to say they can't hire them seem very odd to me.

There is no such thing as being prehired at USX. Either you are hired or not hired. Their is a basic screening process that clears you to go to orientation, but the hiring process does not begin till you get to the term.

I had been a O/O in Ca and WA for 5+ years but did not drive interstate so USX required me to go to a 4 week school to sign on with them.

I went thru a USX sponsored driver training class at the VOCTEC in Drumwright OK. in 1998. After completing the class I went to Orientation at the OKC term. The process you go through to go through their school is not a hiring process. I still had to fill out a application at the terminal, take a physical and UA and drive test like everyone else.
Your not hired until you get issued a fuel card and assigned a truck.

I was prehired for US Xpress thru the school, Then a orentation was set up for the hiring process which includes a physical, drug test and tons of paper work and a 10 min road test, of which I passed all. Then they started asking for documents from the IRS which I supplied to them, also my W2's for last couple of yrs which I also supplied to them... Then was told I wasn't hired The reason being I have no clue, and honestly could care less except for the fact that I made a useless trip to Medway OH to their nasty terminal, waited the 3 days dealing with the extreme Rudeness from their staff, but all the time having WE CARE shoved down our throats, and then told your not hired so basically get your #### and get out...

Tuesday a guy from my orentation group was escorted out of the building for absolutely nothing. The guy was standing in hall during one of the breaks they give you, talking to another guy and the person conduting orentation ear jacked his conversation with the guy, and put his 2 cents into the conversation, and the student told him it was a private conversation , and told him that he was asking him politely to stay out of it, and that really pissed the orentation guy off, so when we went back into the class room, the student was telling us what the orent guy did, this ####### went across the hall, and came back with security and had the student escorted out of building...and we were like what the hell?? Oh yeah these screw balls care alright!!

well i have to disagree with you on this.
they do indeed pre-hire students who wish to attend a cdl class so the student can get their WIA or PEL funding.
Now technically no company has to hire you once you finish school even if they did give you a pre-hire. but most companies do since you had to meet all their standards to get pre-hired in the first place. A pre-hire simply tells the lending agency....if this student had a cdl he would qualify for a job with our company. It does not obligate that company to hire you once you finish school.

Smurf that may the case for some schools for the pre hire, but I paid for my own schooling and filed application and received the pre hire a week after being in school.. I don't think funding has anything to do with pre hire because I have put in a few apps since coming back from us express and am waiting for more pre hire's. Actually I got pre hired with Swift and Falcon today, and waiting for another company to get back with me.

since you paid for the school your self. then a pre-hire was not required. the school could care less if you get a pre-hire or not as long as they get their money.
however if you try to go through WIA or PEL for your funding. you MUST have a pre-hire from a company before you can attend school. you don't have to work for that company when you finish school nor does that company have to hire you. the government WILL NOT pay for you to go to school if you cannot get a job when you finish. this is why they require the pre-hire first.

I will maintain that you are only qualified in advance to be eligible to attend orientation upon graduation.

You have no employee number nor is your employment being reported or are you being paid by the employer. Therefore you are not prehired, only screened to make sure if you attended the truck driver training, that you would be employable according to the companies hiring standards.

Everyone knows about schools that take some poor saps money when his driving record or background make him unemployable in trucking. This is what the lender and the company is trying to avoid. Which is why some companies require you to attend a PTDI school not just any fly by night school.

No one should assume they are hired by a OTR company until they get handed a company logbook fuel card and throw their stuff in their assigned truck and communicate with their dispatcher. Many have made the mistake in thinking that Orientation at a trucking company means the same as it does in a office or factory. It just doesn't.
