Satmantoo,

I have no horse in this race. It seems that you were very unhappy at USA. If you don't mind me asking, where do you work now? It seems you are much happier there and perhaps others will find your new company a better place to work.

I don't know if they ever had 9200's did you mean 9400 and yes they have started buying a few APU's but with their accountant being promoted to CEO, doesn't know where the key goes to start the truck, thinks that saving money means firing mechanics and changing oil at 75000 miles and not toping off oil until it's below the stick etc, etc. Can't see this company being much more than it is in the future. Just my humble oppinion.

I would love to tell you who i work for now but i suspect a lot of these
trucking companies read these post and it isnt to hard for them to figure
out who i am since my post gives the city and state and number of years
i have been driving a truck.I aint to thrilled with the company i work for
now but since the trucking industry is in a slump due to the poor economy
i can grin and bare it till things are on the up turn again.I worked for USA
for over 3 years and i am well aware of how this company operates.I have
noticed that USA is one of the few companies that is stll advertising all over the place for drivers even in this poor economy.I also believe that this fourm is not suppose to be used to advertise or recruit for trucking
companies or maybe i dont understand the rules as well as you do.If you
doubt what i have to say so be it.All i am doing is giving my personal views on this company.USA TRUCK is well known by experienced drivers
as a trainee company with a high rate of driver and non-driver employee
turnover. Why dont you tell me the names of a few good trucking com-
panies.I have been driving trucks for 14 years and in my opinion the only
thing that makes a bad company bearable is a good dispatcher that takes
care of his drivers which you dont find to often. This industry will never get
better for drivers as long as they can get someone to be a trainer who has only been driving for 1 year. That borders on criminal stupidity. Its no
wonder truck drivers are considered unskilled labor.

Air Breeze,

I am not doubting anyones word on wether USA Truck is a bad company. I thought that Satmantoo could have provided where he worked to others since it is so much better.

I understand why you don't and perhaps that is his/her reason as well.

In fact, I don't think there are too many companies on here that are worth damn to begin with. I will give you you my opinion on what I think are good companies but first, I will steer you away from some bad ones. They are very easy to find right here on this site.

In the forum section, go to "Motor Carrier Questions - The Inside Scoop". I think there are only 6 companies on that entire list that a driver has a chance to make a career out of rather than a job. That was the easy part.

Here are a few companies that I think are good for the driver. They are in no particular order.

Univar USA, Linde, Airgas, Air Liquide, Praxaire and Brenntag Pacific come to mind. Also, any time you can find a company that is represented by some type of Union, that is a company you want to get hired on with. You don't see many Union drivers on here complaing about their company do you? No you don't. There is a very good reason for that. But you already know the answer.

It is tough out there right now. I see it everyday out there and here on this site.

If you want to know why I think that the majority of companies are bad, I will gladly give you my opinion.

Over all from currently working for or pulling for USA Truck they are not a bad company over all. Yes they have their problems which all will if you really sit back and think about it. Every Company has a post or 2 on here saying they are bad and a few more has many more of them.

USA Truck not bad if you communicate with them. They could have sent me home day one for failing my DOT physical, but they did not. I seen USA Trucks getting loaded while many others are parked at the Truck Stops waiting for a load, yet our freight has slowed down in the past few months I still hardly sit. Many of the Company Drivers are not getting many miles, but in time that will change. As an O/O with them I had 2 weeks I did just shy of 4000 miles, but also weeks I did little over 2000 miles.

Granted I am not going to be with them much longer, for I am working on a move to achieve another goal I had set for myself.

How could you fail a DOT physical and they "NOT" send you home, that's against the law and how "UN" safe is that. You could die, and drivers are found dead all the time, but you could die while driving down the road hauling 80000 lbs and how many folks do you think you would kill? Why do you think we are given physicals in the first place? This is so incredible I think I'll forward your post onto the DOT and let them figure it out.

My FM already knows that if a load into or out of NYC shows up on my Qualcomm, it's being rejected out of hand. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt (the one that says "I H8 NY")!

I've also picked up [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. before, with my student driving. Thank God it was at 4am on a Saturday!
I ran for CRST before. My cousin was a trainer there. Don't know how he did it but I left before I was eligible (for other reasons). But I take my hat off to anybody that can train - AND TRAIN WELL!! NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT!! But It looks like I'll be coming to USA Truck to get my feet wet again after a 5 year hiatus.

I'm with KKburr. I know I ain't getn rich in the 1st yr...or period! Not working for somebody else. I wanna go O/O so I just need to stick it out with them for a couple of years. Hopefully my wife can.
Oh yeah! That's my neck of the woods!
