I am a driver trainer for USA Truck.

USA Truck is a decent company for me. Whether it's a good company for you, really all depends on what you're looking for in a trucking company. There are drivers out there who are happy as a hog in slop driving for Swift, JB Hunt, etc. etc. My only real pet peeve with USA Truck is maintenance/breakdown. The shops at the terminals are generally not very good, though there are a couple of good ones. Breakdown is loathe to authorize the replacement of tires that need replacing unless they're just plain shredded or showing the belts in a major way, and sometimes when I call to schedule an appointment at a terminal shop to have something worked on, they will say "I've got you set up for (insert time here) at (insert terminal here)" - and I'll show up at the appointed place and time, only to find that the guy didn't set up the appointment. This has only happened when I'm talking with the night shift on the phone though.

That said, I get pretty good miles, not a whole lot of headaches from dispatch, decent runs most of the time, and I generally get home when I put in for my home time. I'm making a decent living with them, and that's what's important to me.

There are times when things go to ####, but that's trucking. There are times when things are going really good. That, too, is trucking. The best advice I can give you is this: Think long and hard about what you want out of a career in trucking. Form some specific questions. Talk with someone who drives for the company you're thinking about working for. That's how you find out if a company is right for you.

Being a training company, we have a lot of drivers without a lot of experience. Generally, the first six months they're still white-knuckled and go nice and slow around curves and on ramps. Then, about the six month mark, some of them start getting cocky and start going a bit faster on the curves and ramps. Some of them get very cocky and go way too fast on curves and ramps, and turn the truck over.

ok i ain't been on here since i left to go get my truck. i can't really complain about miles, i have been set up for about 2800/week. 2nd week out i brought in 3200 i had a crappy week last week b/c of the company that i wasa picking up at. that is the only problem i have had. the companies that we pick up at suck. the first one loaded the wrong trailer and didnt' have anyone there the weekend i went to pick up and then i had another refuse load b/c they ordered wrong product from the company, then this last one gave LC the wrong pickup number, finially after nearly 8hrs there i talked the security out of the rite number. was missing 1 f'n number. lol but other than that, i agree, maintaince is not that good. my truck needs work but they can't ever get me to a terminal. but it ain't nothin really major yet. not as long as they keep me out of the snow and ice for a lil bit. now as for home time, i guess they count from when u start driving b/c i have been away from my home for a month and my hometime wasn't supposed to start till tomorrow. but i'm takin 4days at christmas i will have it by then. i'm takin one day today to finish moving stuff out of my apt... ya'll take care. be safe out there drivers. btw, usa truck just had their safest month in over a year. go us. lol
