| Werner Trainer's If you are a female newbie and planning to go to Werner for your training be perpared for the worst experience of your life.. I received 2 trainer's and a promise of another before I decided this company training wasn't for me. The first trainer I was assisgned to was a Dike. Very friendly lady, a little to friendly for me, I passed on her as I would not be able to sleep without having both eyes open. The second trainer was a OLD Perverted NASTY man. This guy was a disgrace to trucker's in general... First he comes to pick me up at the terminal, His truck was out right FLITHY. He had Urine bottles, and mysterious other bottles laying all over the truck floor board and throughout the truck. Garbage laying with dried food and other objects. Windshield was so nasty with cig smoke you couldn't see clearly out the windows. His apperance was so unbelieveably gross. Nasty beard that looked like he hadn't showered in a month of sundays, clothes were disgustingly dirty and a stinch that followed him like the plaque. When I opened the passenger door to get into truck garbage started falling out of truck, I should have ran in other direction, but I got into cab of truck... I saw all of his nastiness, he tells he that he wasn't organized and wasn't aware he was getting a trainee as I would be his first and he didn't know anything about training.... Then I ask him if he is going to CLEAN his truck, actually it needed to be bombed!! He tells me that WE will organize it,,, HELLO !! not my FILTH I refuse to touch anything, then askes for my DL to make sure it is legal, whatever dude,.... Then tells me if I listen to him he will make me a good driver, ok how the hell is that when the nasyness is over growing in your SEMI... I then ask him how often does he shower, I know that sounds rude, but rumors in this company are that trainers make you go 5-8 days before showering and by the looks of him ITS TRUE!! Anyway he tells me he doesn't shower like he should, but understood I am to shower daily.. Woohoooo dude take the hint.... THEN tells me not to worry that he wont MOLEST me..... Alrighty then I was out of that truck ... I went inside called my SDM told him there is NO WAY in HELL im going with MACNASTY...I'd kill the guy first .. My SDM tells me to go talk to student manager at terminal and keep the driver waiting there. So I go sign in waiting to talk to SM, the guy calls my phone asking where I am, I tell hiim Safety has me held up and he saids he is coming inside,, OH gawd! Well he comes in 10 min later, sets down at the table and is practically drooling over hiimself thinking I am gonna be his trainee he gets to MOLEST, The perv was setting so close to me that I felt I was being scoped out for later,,, GROSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! They then call me upstairs to speak with SM, I write out a statement of the condition of his truck, actions and Sexual Harrassment... Then with Gloves on (Needing gas mask)they go take pics of his truck ... I go back to hotel to await another trainer, this was 3 pm when I am sent back.... 630 am, next morning I am told I was assigned another trainer, Kewl right? Wrong.... I waited 3 days without a phone call or info as when that Trainer would be arriving.... wow how UNprofessional... so this is my experience and I strongly suggest to think before you go with WARNER!! Hince I said W A R N I have heard that the Trainer's get the driver situated behind the wheel, then they head to sleeper where they stay and leave you to figure it out for yourself... I did meet a few trainer's that seemed ok, but that could have been a act thinking they would get a trainee.... However, I didn't risk it... I think Werner should totally Evaluate the Trainer's before putting them into a position of Teaching a new driver.. Having 3 months experience is not long enough to be training another person because they are new themselves and havent experienced enough to be putting both lives at risk.... That is insane, Had I known the requirement for their trainer's were 3 month's driviing I would have RAN like HELL in opposite direction from their recuiter's. | Sounds familiar! I won't say for sure but, this guy sounds like the "same" trainer that I had. But there are some good trainers at Werner.(or so I have been told.) I went threw 3 trainers and could not get a decent trainer so I left WERner. Good luck on your next copany and trainer!! |

| Three Werner Trainers For Me Also Wow - I thought Werner trainers had to have 6 MONTHS EXPERIENCE. I think that was the case when I was with them, Spring 2007. If it is now only 3 MONTHS EXPERIENCE, you're right. Run don't walk to the nearest bus station. I was the first trainee for a Lady Trainer. She suffered from night blindness, and so we couldn't really get started right, as a trainer isn't supposed to drive after 11 pm or midnight, I don't remember which. So, since dispatch gave us team assignments, we were LATE-LATE-LATE. She never told the company she couldn't drive at night. The first morning out, I said, I'm going to need a rest-stop or truckstop to go to the bathroom. She said to me, "Just do it behind the truck like everybody else." I refused, and she grudgingly drove me to a toilet. Things went from bad to worse. She never did a pre-trip, and when her engine warning light went on, she wouldn't even stop to check if anything was wrong. She never knew where her deliveries were, always took the wrong turns, never called ahead. She had been driving - SOMEHOW - for just under a year, and she told me she almost got out of it before she decided to be a trainer. Did I mention she had severe bronchitis a couple of weeks before taking me on, and she was coughing all night. I GOT SICK AND HAD TO TAKE A LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Then, there were the two men - I'll just say one was sly about it, the other was in-your-face. I ended up outside of Chicago, going into a truckstop and begging a security guard one night to come out to the truck with me so I could get my stuff - the "trainer" had already been reported by me for sexual harassment, but the DM, his buddy, decided to TELL HIM, and then to keep me on the truck, until we could deliver the next load in a day or two. This was after screaming bouts, threats of violence, and I was so upset I fell out of the truck backwards from the passenger side. Thank God I was not hurt, just rolled somehow. Another "leave of absence". WERNER? Someone should sue them. Unfortunately, my brother isn't a lawyer. |

| Wow,I would be in jail for murder lol..Its sad how screwed up some people are out there..There was an older guy in the class at the truck driving school I went to that was thrilled that he was accepted by werner.Even the instructors told him to forget about them...Not sure if he ever went with them or not... |

| Werner Trainers Sorry to hear about your bad experience. True there are trainers industry wide who should not train but there ARE good ones as well. I am a trainer and I waited much longer then 6 months before doing that. 3 months is just way too soon to be one in my opinion. I for one NEVER take a trainee fresh and go in the the sleeper as MY LIFE is too important to me. At least a WEEK before I am confident that I will wake up not dead. BTW.... The Sexual Harassment issue is one MAIN reason most trainers DO NOT want to take a female student. That can destroy ones career not to mention good luck trying to get ANY job after that (guilty untill proven innocent) . I`ve heard of many horror stories from female trainers about female students which makes you wonder if it is even worth the risk of taking one not to mention the MAJOR additional background check just to do so. Anyway good luck. |

| Why Guys wont take a female trainee After reading that post twice one has to wonder where the sexual harassment allegations came from?????? he sat close to her???? he looked at her????????? Did I miss something???? I can see why guys don't like to take Female trainees they would be worried if they looked at them for more then ten Seconds they would be reported for sexual harassment. Yeah the guy did sound filthy pee bottles in the truck ewwwwww. The first trainer was female and so what she was gay, I'm sure that if the trainee let the trainer know she didn't swing that way the trainer would have been fine and not raped her while she slept lol. My Significant other says that if he ever decided to become a trainer in a few yrs time he would NOT take a female trainee under any circumstances. Sorry if this upsets anyone but sheesh we all put up with things we don't like at any job we do........I answer 55 emails a day and to me 99% of the questions are stupid, but I still very patiently type a very polite reply. | My BF works for Werner and has trained twice in the three years that we've been together. He's had good students and he's had bad students. He hardly sleeps at all when he's training and the last student he had totally ruined him for training. He will ever do it again. I have strict orders to put my foot up his *** if he even considers it. This guy was from Pakistan and spoke horrible English. He stayed on his cell phone speaking to someone in his own language. He didn't listen to my BF when he tried to explain things to him. They came down off a steep mountain grade with the brakes smoking and this idiot wouldn't use the Jake brake. My BF was yelling at him to take his foot off the brake and use the Engine brake. He replied "I can't"!!.... My BF doesn't scare easily but he said he nearly **** himself that day. When he called me I could hear in his voice just how scared he got. He couldn't sleep with this guy driving, so he was exhausted. My BF has a rule that whoever is driving can listen to any kind of music he wants. Well, this guy listened to Pakistani music... He also tended to get lost in the truck stop stores and BF had to go find him twice. My BF also has a rule for trainees..."I will come and get you twice...the third time you don't return to the truck in a timely fashion, you will find that you have no truck to return to". BF finally called the home office and said this guy has to go. He isn't learning anything, refuses to do any backing at all, and refuses to listen to anything I tell him and I can't keep him off the telephone long enough to explain anything to him. So it isn't just trainers...trainees can be a problem too. |
