| USF GLEN MOORE The truth hurts. Our Experience as a Team As of this moment you will sit if you drive for USF Glen Moore. We are a team that has recently started with Glen Moore (over 5 years experience) and frankly we have never been so disappointed. We are going to try and stick it out. Here are the positives - they seem to be "nice" people trying to do their jobs. They pay pretty well and the health insurance is pretty good. They allow pets on trucks and offer a refundable deposit. They are not hung up on idle time and offer idleaire if you need it. Time off doesn't seem to be a big issue. Here are the negatives HOLD ON to your seat. You will sit at this company!!! We are a team and have sat more at this company in the last 6 weeks than we did for the previous 4 years combined at our old company. I frankly do not know why they are hired us or continue to hire team drivers. There are apparently 6 full time recruiters that keep busy but drivers are sitting. Here is the problem in my opinion Glen Moore Team Freight is tied to heavily with the sister companies of YRCW. We are sitting at a company terminal waiting for a load as I write. Our wait will be approx 15 hours. It is not uncommon to have team trucks sitting at the Carlisle, Pa main terminal for 12 to 36 hours. They will offer you a motel if you sit for 24 hours and layover pay ($100 for a team), but I am more interested in moving than a motel. The system is set up for Glen Moore teams to move time sensitive freight for "New Penn" ( a yrcw company) out of the northeast, but it far from perfect. Our experience is that if you drop a load after 1200 at the Carlisle yard you may have to wait until the next morning to get a load from NP or some other customer. That is just the beginning. If you are hauling a load to Clackamas, OR, or Kent, WA Salt Lake City or any number of places - you will sit. We sat for 48 hours in Clackamas Oregon waiting for 1 load to come out. They gave us 50 dollars each for a total of 200.00 dollars for both days for layover. Plus 100 dollars for doing a live load 28 mile honey do. We have sat for over a day in Carlisle, and Kent , WA as well. Essentially if you are given a load lets say from Carlisle, PA to Clackamas, OR they will give you about 54 - 56 hours to get it 2700 miles. In a 65mph truck that is not a lot of time. When you get there you will not move until USF in Clackamas loads your trailer. If you have to wait 5 hours or 72 hours it doesn't matter you will set, you will not move because you may be the only team they have in that area. This wouldn't be so bad if you needed a restart after 6 or so days of driving, but after 2 or 3 days since your last restart or coming back to work makes this maridiculous. If they would pay you 250.00 dollars a day for a team as layover - I could deal with it. Instead they toss like candy to you the standard $100.00. 1/5th of what you could be making. Basically you run like the wind to get the "time sensitive" load to its destination and then they let you sit. Glen Moore could take care of this by paying more layover, because they are very much aware of the situation. It has apparently been a longstanding problem that they cannot or will not fix by offering more layover pay. You know terminal to terminal drop and hook is ok, but it isn't if you have to sit long periods in between loads and run like the wind in a 65mph truck once you are hooked up. Here are some other negatives. International trucks are the worst. They rattle, the interior is very user unfriendly, looks, feels, and drives like a truck that is 10-15 years older than the other manufacturers. The trailers could be worse, but they are old and you get a lemon every once in a while. We have not experienced 90% + drop and hook we have live loaded and unloaded more times than we thought and with the down time waiting for loads I would rather have more live loads/unloads than sit like we do. The communication between driver and office could be better. You are left alone to figure out how the freight is "supposed" to move. Bottom line if you don't mind sitting 1,2 3 days for one week and getting 3-4000 miles and then running for 6- 7 days the next week and getting 6-7000 miles for a total of 9-11000 for 2 weeks out - then you will probably love this company. But if you are the type that is pulling your hair out by sitting in company yards waiting for freight to load that was supposed to be loaded that day and then you wait - hearing nothing from dispatch- wait and keep getting the same old line - you know "it should be ready by". Then you will be like I am looking for another company that can come through for you. All we want as a team is company that will let us drive 6-7000 a week with doable delivery times. One that pays 45 cent per mile or better for teams. Allows pets and appreciates people that keep a clean truck and pays a decent layover if that is persistent problem with their shippers. I want to be fair. There are alot of teams here that love it. They are content to get jump in and drive the wheels of and then sit as long as they average 18- 20000 miles a month. We would rather spend our time off at home and not on the road. If USF Glen Moore could accomplish this than they would be truly a super company to drive for. But with slighlty unrealistic load delivery times and chronic waits for shipper loads out of other YRCW terminals they are not what we expected. We can live with 65mph trucks ( that is fast I want to go in an International) we can live with 2-4 hour waits between delivery and pickup, but extended waits....layovers and small delivery windows are making us very weary of this company. Tuesday 0945 est we leave our home in midwest - destination Carlisle, PA drop load in yard as it delivers on Thursday. Wednesday we arrive in yard at 0400 est. There is no load for us and according to dispatch there will not be until a solo brings one from New Jersy to the Carlisle, PA yard at 1900est. One day out of our home with only 18 plus hours of drive time and then the next day we will sit for almost as long waiting for a load. Did this happen to most of the drivers in Carlisle this morning - no, but when it happens to you and it happens alot then it isn't fun. We would have rather stayed home until Tuesdays evening and then left then to spend our time sitting at the main terminal in Pennsylvania. If you talk to USF teams many of them love working here, but ask them if what I have written happens. If they are honest and are not just looking for referral money then they will give it you straight. Bye for now. | Were you given the option to pick up the load later so you'd get it there for DELIVERY time? So you could have left home later? Or did you have to leave when you did? When we were OTR, it was the same thing (but we weren't team driving). You'd drive illegal and work your butt off to get a load there on time then sit and sit and sit - up to three days sometimes. I wish you the best of luck in finding another company who keeps you moving AND meets your needs. |

| usf glen moore We were actually dispatched with the ld monday. We called dispatch and determined that the probability of getting a Tuesday load out of Carisle would be difficult. U see we would have arrvd in carlisle 18-19 hrs after leaving home putting us in carlisle in early evening. Load could not del early per qualcomm instructions. Would we have rather stay at home until even Wednesday am - you bet but Glen Moore wanted out here " just in case" there was a load from New Penn. I would have rather del it as it is turning out, but on well. |

| Tulsa to St Louis.......Remember now, I used to live in Seligman, MO (south of Monett and I-44) CFI (though I don't know how much stock you want to put in them since they're still re-arranging with Con-Way) Prime (read the stories on here about them, dunno if they allow for teams) Melton (see the comment on prime) Not sure about the St Louis area. Considering you're in Battlefield MO, you may just want to look around Joplin/Springfield.....and then arkansas has all the companies that are talked about on here. Possibly check out Wal-Mart? They do a few inside OTR jobs and those are for Teams. almost all their solo OTR is contracted out to either JBHT or Schneider or Crete. Also know they have that Grocery DC in Anderson MO, aside from the Bentonville stuff. Either that, or there are probably some good sites on the net where you two could post a resume and wait. |
