frdr & steelerfan67,

There are good companies out there. You just need to do a lot of research to find the right one for you. I found mine via their website and word of mouth. It did take almost 1 year of waiting as it seems that nobody leaves unless they retire. Drivers usually make between 70k & 80K per year working Monday thru Friday and home every night and I do mean night. I think our trucks run on solar power only.

I would steer clear of any that advertise in a truckstop magazine and about 90% of those in the newspaper classifieds. You need to stop and ask yourself why they are constantly advertising for employment? We are constantly told there is a driver shortage? I think it is because those companies do not compensate their employees properly for their time.

Just a thought.

I am a Chicago Bears Fan until the day I DIE! (Remember this, I'm not old enough to remember the Super Bowl Shuffle, the first memories I have are of Dave Wannstedt and John B "Dinkpass" Shoop...

Steeler, It all depends if there's something they have that fits you. Everyone is different. Like you see people on here carrying on about Swift, JB Hunt, Schneider, all of em....Yet I can randomly walk into a truckstop and see some guys that have their 1 Million Mile Jacket from Swift and Schneider, or the 1 Million Mile Cap from Hunt and Covenant, etc etc. The thing is though, Ask those guys what they're doing, if it's General OTR, or Dedicated something. I do know that we had a Million Mile Driver this past quarter who was working an Automotive run out of Ohio.

I remember the superbowl shuffle, but any who I am die hard steelers fan, family thing. I would like to see Brett Farve get to the superbowl for the NFC. They are playing well this year.
I do agree many people on here bust on swift, hunt, and the rest but I do see the million mile patchs and many do make a good living. I am happy right now running local for Fed Ex Ground, but after our daughter goes to college hubby and I were thinking about otr again and getting our own truck and lease somewhere. There are just som many whiners and cry babaies on here and the CB it is hard to get any real information.
GO STEELERS!!!!! (7)

These last few messages answer it

Are there any good companies left? I guess not. I'm going by the last few posts in this thread, understand.

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

I think the last company I worked at was pretty good but the next guy could go there and have a miserable time and want to track me down for telling him to work there.

I think it is better to put out info on companies bad or good and let the individual decide for themselves.

I am content right now running local from the harrisburg area out to western pa everyday. I get home everyday, make good money. i was thinking more ahead after my daughter starts college, the hubby and I want to buy or lease a truck and run otr again. We want a team oriented company where we can make a comfortable living. You just hear so much negativity on here about companies, I guess you just have to weed out the crack pots.
