| That sounds great there Bubba. I like my new company as well. I am glad to hear there are a few solid companies out there. Sometimes I think drivers are taken advantage of...especially new drivers.

| Marinegreen1775, I love both of your quotes. George Carlin is one of my favorites. I have all of his books and enjoy reading them over and over. lastofseven73, Your sig (If the wheels ain't turnin, I ain't earnin) seems to sum up the way a lot of companies pay their drivers. My answer to that is "find a company that pays you for all of your time". Until all drivers attain this, they will remain in servitude to their company without proper compensation for their time. Only themselves and their families will continue to suffer. Wake up people! Drive safe |

| I get paid very well for my time,But I just inherited this problem of the love for the road. I love my hometime, but you can only pull a real gearhead off the road for so long before he starts getting impatient and a little irritated about sitting around. I'm a third generation driver and all I know outside of working construction,is driving. It's the biggest passion in my life next to my family. I was within a 2-3 yr. period of retiring from life cause everything was paid for,had money in the bank from other finacial ventures, and then my wife had a medical condition taht bit me real hard. My insurance didn't cover the problem and I had to sell out to cover the bills and I just got back in the game recently. I have alot to recover again, but I did it once,I'll do it again!!!

| But yeah it's sad tons of drivers have to live like that while their bosses complain about what color they want their mercedes.

| to be quite honest with you .. if i can run the 48 states and be home maybe 2 days a month and make what i am making now and not have to sit in a truck stop lot for days waiting for a load i would rather be on the road for months at a time.. but i will not put myself through the B.S. of waiting in a truck stop for 2 or 3 days , most of the time longer to wait for something to come in and get on the road .. i will take what i have now and that is i never wait for a load .. its there when i get there, i do my drops, if i go over my 11 i have a nice shaker with a comfy bed assigned to me ... i have been there just about a month now and have never had to do my reset on the road, if i am down to about 13 hours, they will give me a 1 day run or have me reset my hours and start over .. . my reset now will be over on wednesday at 2 in the afternoon and then when i run again, i will be out of hours again sun night and will reset again for monday and half of tuesday .. i told them my shaker had a little bit of a shake from an allignment and as i reset my hours, my truck is getting worked on .. when i ask for an advance, no questions asked, i just hear the dispatcher say , whatever you need bubba .. then within minutes its there ... he checks up daily when i am out to make sure i have what i need, i am not needing anything and just to see how many drops i have yet to get back so he can schedule me for my 10 off and get me back out there ... for a month i have been looking for anything wrong with this new company and the ONLY thing that i can see right now is there is no rider policy ... this is in fact the best company i have worked for and i plan to be there for as long as i am welcomed to be there ... bubba |

| I agree with you that it is always better to be running rather than sitting in a truckstop waiting for a load or for your 34 hour restart. The problem I had was that I was no-where near my hours limit and I was sitting there without getting compensated for anything. Being on a dedicated account, I didn't have the option of taking a different load. I had to wait until they decided to straighten out their crap in the office. It wasn't due to a lack of freight being moved, it was just poor oganization skills on their part to keep me moving. |

| I am working for a company called CPC Logistics. They are nation wide however they have several different offices set up throughout each part of the country. They don't have any of their own trucks per say but they lease out their drivers to several dedicated accounts. It's a great company to look into if you are interested in a dedicated account. I am presently on the account for Walgreens but they have many other companies to choose from such as Toyota auto parts and Bengiman Moore Paints to name a couple. I run a line-haul for Walgreens witch gives me 530 miles per day, Monday to Friday at .42 1/2 cpm. I also get paid by the hour ($20.50) for everything other than driving. IE: fueling the truck, Drop and Hooks, BREAKDOWNS... anything other than driving. I am also home everynight. Their benefits package isn't too bad (not the best, but I have seen worse) if you are full time. They also hire part-time drivers or "Casual" if you are willing to run around to different domiciles and accounts to fill in for other drivers that are out on vacation or medical. They will also pay you milage on your own personal vehicle (depending on the account) for you to go to different places to fill in. They do have a web site but I have never seen any job opportunities come up on it. I would suggest that you contact them even though the web site says there are no jobs available. Oh yea, some of the contracts require a minimum length of experience (like 2 years) but not all of them. |
