Good credit means that you can manage yourself also. It shows that you don't walk away from your responsibilities or live beyond your means.
Alot of companies, not just trucking, check your credit as part of the hiring process and don't tell you.

Check with a bottling company, like coca-cola or pepsi, they will even help you get your cdl, its long hours but you will get to drive and the pay isnt bad. Good Luck

Re: credit and getting a job

Yes, it's true. Most places won't hire you if you have bad credit now. Which means your credit gets worse because you can't pay your bills because you can't get a job, other than 5 bucks an hour flippin burgers at the local McD's. And we all know that with a family to support, food to buy, house payments, car payments, insurance, gas money, and on and on, 5 won't cut it. That's like about 3.50 bring home after taxes. So even if both parents work at minimum wage, and they only have one child for expemption status, that's like a combined bring home wage of around 8 bucks an hour I think. Maybe even less. And burger flippin only gives you 20 to 25 hours a week max. And the government wonders why so many more people, families, are homeless and living under bridges. Duh. Wages have not kept up with the economy.

I've been looking for a job for over a year now, had probably a hundred interviews, got all the qualifications for the jobs, but because I have a lot of medical bills on my credit due to lack of health insurance, and stuck with a bunch of stuff from my ex husband, I can't get a job. When I had a job I was paying what I could on the bills after everything else. Their reasoning is this, if you can't pay your bills, then you are obviously not responsible enough to come to work every day either. Plus, you might steal from their company and sell the items on the street for cash, or if you have access to any money you will steal that too. And this is exactly what was told to me after I was denied a job. I flat out asked why every time I got turned down. One lady was kind enough to tell me that is the reasoning behind it. Even if you have absolutely no criminal record, have NEVER been in any kind of trouble for anything, your still a burglery/theft risk to them. As well as a liability in down time from your lack of being there, since you are obviously not responsible enough to come to work every day.

Oh the joys of our great american dreams and freedom.

heres the thing that gets me how can bad credit make you lose your automobile insurance? i had the same insurance company for years and never missed a payment but had to file bankrupcty for mrdical bills because i didn't have insurance and the harrassing calls. well my insurance company dropped me because of bad credit that was two years ago and finally after 2 high paying coverages finally found one a whole lot cheaper. i guess the biggest question i want to know how does my credit report affect my driving?

Well, for starters, it's a way for all these places to MAKE MORE MONEY OFF US POOR FOLK!! See, we're irresponsible, lazy, good for nothing people who never pay our bills and therefore have tons of money to burn so we can afford those high rates. And since we're those type of people, then we can't be expected to drive responsibly either.

Seriously, we have the same problem. The only place we can afford car insurance is someplace like Safeauto or Geico. And that's not even cheap cause we have to have full coverage due to the bank still owning our car (can you say car payments?) I used to have Allstate, but because of the bills overdue on my credit I'm no longer insurable. It's just another way for the american freedoms to slowly be taken away and eroded. We no longer have the right to equal treatment. We didn't ask for medical bills to pile up, or get behind on house payments because the only breadwinner lost their job, or the millions of other reasons why good, honest people end up with crappy credit. They aren't being irresponsible, just having nothing but bad luck.

What gets me about the situation you speak of ...
If you have bad credit, usually because you could not pay your bills, then why will they sell most people a car but their interest rate/payments are higher? And most people who actually try to repay all of their loans, maybe late but still try to repay, seem to have more trouble than those who don't pay them at all. Our government has rewarded people on welfare so much that they don't want to get off of welfare. Stay home, have more kids, get more money per kid, live in free housing and you don't even have to cut your own grass! They should have to show up at a gym or something every morning or somewhere to stay all day to get paid. Couldn't the local schools use them for security? They are getting money from the government, why not be required to do something for it? Work at city hall, jailhouse, p/u trash, work at homeless shelters, help in schools, etc...
WOW what a roll. I am sorry. Will quit now.
