Covenant "ROB YOU BLIND"

I came out of truckdiving school from Jacksonville,Fl.I went to work for Covenant Transport, even though i had different job offers. They sounded good because of their training and the promises they made.Soon as I entered their building the RIP-OFF began.Their training went from 21 days with a trainer to 35 days. After training I was supposed to team up with a partner for 30 days. Then I could go solo. Then they told me it went up to 6 months. The training was terrible.I was never allowed to stop and eat a decent meal or shower. My trainer didn't teach me anything except how to deal with a horrible smell from him not showering for a week or better. Was told that's part of the job.Bit my tongue through training to get to upgrade. Then the real fun started. They ran me around for 4 days, asking me to cheat my books because I had not enough driving time, but I drove over 15,000 miles of the 24,000 we ran.But to make a long story short.SCREWED me out of my upgrade bonus of $700.00 plus all my safety mile bonus for that quarter(no accidents,no tickets)which should of been another $500.Made all of my loads on time and actually was early to most.Inspite of their trucks being governed at 63mph.So i went to team driving and every week was ripp-off half of my check.I asked my dispatcher about it told me to call payroll. You call payroll they told me all the time they would call me back never would.SO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A COMPANY DRIVER DO NOT GO TO COVENANT .IF THEY COME TO YOUR SCHOOL TO RECRUIT YOU RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!!!!

Cool

You should always be wary of companies that have policies in their handbook regarding Pay, payroll disputes, and company required ethics regarding driver pay settlement.

As I am sure you are now aware. If you hire/work for people without ethics, no amount of rule making will make them honest.

I really enjoy driving for Covenant. He must of just got a bad trainer. You can requst a new one if you feel that your not getting the right training.

ah, the old "nasty stinking slave-driving so called trainer" thing. people like that turn new guys off to even wanting to continue pursuing a career in trucking. a trainer has no business telling a trainee when to stop, go, eat, shower or anything else. you're an adult. you don't need permission to stop and eat. there is NO reason not to shower EVERY single day.

check out CT Transportation. they're a good outfit. they have a terminal in Jacksonville. and you only have to take a 2 hour ride up to Savannah for a 2 day orientation. 6 weeks with a trainer, and you're in your own rig.

I would not work for a company unless I got paid at least .34 a mile to start. Anything less and your cheating yourself. There are a ton of companies out there newbies can go to and get paid well and treated semi-good. I know of no companies though with no experience your going to be treated well. Its just the nature of the business. Suffer through your first two years (not one year), keep your mouth shut, and then write your own ticket into a company where you will be paid and treated well. The time will go by very fast so enjoy the driving part of it at least. Good luck.

I'm working for Covenant right now. The trainers are un believable. When some people get a little bit of power they become unbearable
