| Reasoning behind the barrage of advertising for drivers IMHO is there is money to be made by the co. Pass and get a job, realise it is not what you want and quit "you pay" take the course and wash out "you pay" Either way the company gets theirs. Junior or senior or middle of the line experience If the cards fall wrong its your turn to have an incident. How you interpret your skills and abilities in widely varying weather conditions sets the course for whatever happens good or bad. Wonder if any one other than (secretive) insurance cos keep specs on experience to accident ratio? Danc4u, Here in Canada you had to jump thru a lot of hoops at one time to be an independent O/O There were a lot of things here in Canada (Ont) that really started the down slide, the largest contributor to me was allowing temp services to become full time employers. Initially if you hired thru a temp service, after 30 days you either hired the driver or sent him back for whatever reason and got another, kind of a screening service. Now they can employ full time and pay average to below average money. If the dispatcher at the co. does`t like you personally you are gone. So many things contributing to the down hill slide, not enough positive contributions to off set it. Enough of the shunting gig, back on the road Tuesday, too many bosses and supervisors with needs and demands contradicting each other, would rather deal with traffic and receivers than these guys. Have a new respect for shunt drivers Be Safe |
