Some of our dispatch was great others not so much, there were a couple that did understand where the drivers were coming from even though they were not drivers previously, they just had family that were drivers.

If you've been out with Hubby for awhile, then you understand. It doesn't matter what a person's been told, until you've actually been on the road a month, you have no clue.:biggrin_25523:

This is true,But even most office space is larger than a truck, a washroom and snack machine is right down the hall. Most office workers are cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.A trucker can be so low on fuel and cash after sitting a week in a truck-stop,because GW can't load them, that they can't afford to run the truck.:biggrin_25510:

For a driver, especially an O/O, to compare his/her working conditions to that of office personnel is ludicrous. After all you/me choose this job/lifestyle. If the company you are leased to does not have the freight base to keep you profitable, it's time to move on.

There was a dispatcher in who came down to cleburne to help out because we were so short handed. His truck broke down on his way down here. He spent all his money fixing the truck so he could make it to the office. The tm at the time was less than nice and didn't get him a hotel. He was told to stay in one of the broken down trucks on the yard. So for like two weeks this guy who came here to help out, had no money (so the vending machine didn't help him) had to sleep in a truck that didn't run (in january) so I'm sure it wasn't warm. I guess he was lucky that we had showers but no hot water.

I used to go with my husband to work. He drove a box truck, 36 ft I think. He delivered cabinets. I went with him quite a bit. Got up at 2 am, loaded the truck, delt with the road and driving in dfw and then unloaded the cabinets to knew homes so there wasn't a driveway yet, just mud and rebar and scafling. I know that's not the same thing as driving a big truck especially over the road.

I know your job is hard and stressful. I know that I don't really know because I haven't been there. I would never try to understand what its like. I respect what contractors do. I wish more contractors would try and respect the office staff. You can't know what we go through just like we can't know what y'all go through.

Did you only read this post? we were talking about dispatcher/brokers/agents.Call it comparing if you like, there is very distinct differences in occupations.I was pointing out some of the obvious differences in Trucking and office workers. There is also distinct differences in flat/step freight and van freight. If the economy hasn't hurt you, thats great. It has hurt alot of O/O.:yes2557:

Sounds like you are a very hard worker,so you leaving GW is their loss.It seems that they really don't want the "Good Workers",Office or Truckers.:biggrin_25511:

I've followed this thread from page number one. The relativity of my post still stands.
